Now what i understand so far, which i might add is very limited. This looks like the driver everyone has been searching for. Can the diode just be replaced?

The driver will not supply enough current for the GB diodes. The Aixiz modules are much cheaper.

One of the best modules (popular, that is) is hte Aixiz 12mmX30mm brass module...it is chromed, but still conductive - take a peek in the experiments and mods section - there is a sticky there with links to many posts regarding these modules, how to use them, etc....
