hi hi guys i just found yr amazing Forum and its realy a cool forummmmm with cool members

we ll that is my problem:
i wanna build a laser burning pointer and i dont have a DVD laser head all i have is a laser head of a simple CD-ROM (PXR-550X) reader and a laser head of a (burner/reader) CD-ROM (SF-P151)

i tryed to attached images of PXR-550X and SF-P151 but it didnt allow me so... sry...

well... can i build my burning laser or i need DVD laser head badly .... well i hope i can with those material XD
thx for yr help guys ...am waiting for yr answeres :

Hello, welcome. Please go to Experiments section, and at the top in the stickies, there is a thread called THreads Of Interest. Read all of those threads of interest. Most questions you have or will have will be answered in those.

Sorry, but you can't make a useful laser pointer from a CD drive.

well i read all that it may cuz buind yr eye =p
and btw am 41 year old man and i have already one blinde eye XD so u dont need to warning me cuz i know wat losing eye mean... and thx so much for that =)

i saw one on youtube make it by CD-rw ...so r u sure of that ?!

Yea , you can make a lower powered IR burner from a CD writer diode but it's not recomended unless you have eye protection and know what you're doing.Besides it's not nearly as much fun as the red visible DVD diode.You should get yourself a DVD Writer head/sled/diode/whatever and be very carefull and "don't look into beam with remaining eye" ;D
