Im new in this hoby and I want something to start with. I got some cheap chinas laser and now I want to move to higher class :D
Im looking for some 200 (or more) mW laser. I dont need anything expencive, just something cheap to start with. I m ready to build one that is cheaper :D
I know something about flashlights so body it is not strager to me...
And now pls advice, what is cheapest way to get somethig like this (200 mW or more).build one or buy one??And what is the best site for it?
thx in advance

You have to answer a few questions such as what wavelength laser you want. What your price range is etc.

You have to post what's your favor about the laser's specifications.:D I am a new guy here, too and need to learn more from others.:D It is a great forum.

I dont know much about wavelenght. All I know is that color of laser depends on waveleght. And now question is, does the wavelenght make diference in power.
ex. what would be best option to get highpower lasers(blue green red) and how is that related with price of emitter and size of emitter(what host should I choose if i try to build it by my self).
And what would be the best way to get parts i need for such build(ebay or some other online seller)
thx for replay =)

Wavelength, measured in nanometers (nm) - at least pertaining to lasers - is the color. The visible spectrum is roughly 390nm - 750nm.

For example, 405nm is purple, 445nm is dark blue, 532nm is green, 650nm is red, etc,. These are also the most common wavelengths you will encounter when it comes to laser pointers.

Watts are the units of measurement for the power of the laser. Mostly we deal with milliwatts or one, one thousands of a watt.

Your best bet to start out with is to get a true, good quality 5mW green laser. You will be able to see the beam in absolute darkness, or with some smoke/fog/vapor in the air: Laserglow Technologies - Handheld Lasers, Alignment Lasers and Lab / OEM Lasers

Green is also far more visible than the other colors (peak visibility is around 555nm IIRC) for example 5mW of green (532nm) is more visible than 100mW of red (650nm).

If you want to get a laser more powerful than 5mW, you will also need to get proper safety goggles (links in my signature).

Building a laser is a lot of fun and very rewarding. If you want to get started with something simple, check out the Laser Pro Shop section of the forum, and buy a kit from there. Start out with building a red laser, since the diodes are pretty cheap, and you won't feel so bad if you kill one:p

thx a lot. I have those 1-5 mW cheap lesers. That's why i decided to go with something more powerfull, and that is why I asked for hepl, becouse you guys know much more thenn I do about specifications and prices of parts for it :D
Now im aiming for 200 mW, but when I check how hard is to build one or how expencive is to get complited laser, ill decide what is best way to get it =)
