Just tried again this morning with the geese actually on the ground. I had three of them walking around about 200 feet away from me.

I shined the laser about 10 feet away from them and slowly brought it closer. At first, they walked away from the light and stopped honking but that didn't last long. They finally stopped walking away from the light and just stood there. I didn't hit the birds with the light and they didn't fly away.

So It might work for some but not all.

edited next day.

I had a big flock of geese walking down the street today. I took the laser out and tried again. The geese where about 75 feet away and the laser worked as good as the dogs do. They couldn't fly fast enough. I wonder if it was flock mentality or that the green dot was brighter r/t being a bit closer.

I'm back to chasing them away with my dogs. It seems like the only 100% effective solution to my problem.

Try a fake alligator. If they been to Florida they understand the danger

I bet a real one would work better.

Even a snapping turtle can do a good job on them.

BTW - The OP's application is not scaring them away, it capturing them for relocation.

I think a real one would work without worry of them coming back.....Ever ha!

So I have been using the laser more and getting better results each time. I also learned this weekend that my one neighbor has been chasing them with a weak laser pointer at night.

So I think part of the reason that some of the geese don't fear the beam as much is because they are getting used to it. Funny I thought I was the only one to have the laser idea.

Glad to hear it's working out for you. Just remember not to over do it. They will become accustomed to it after a while. Funny to hear about your neighbors too:)
