So recently i have developed a special liking for those "wonderful" 303 and 301 lasers. I know that they are basically a russian roulette in terms of quality. They are absolutely cheap $6-15 USD, run off an 18650 and are fun to bash around. the best part is that if i drop it or it rolls off a table i don't have to worry that i just wrecked a 300 dollar piece of equipment. while i know not all of you or any of you may share this joy i just wanted to put it out there :) . i am interested to hear everyone elses guilty pleasures involving lasers.

Haha, everyone has different types of lasers they like, no worries!

For me, it'd have to be CNI's lab lasers, especially the smallest heads. They just look so darn cool and with a beam of light shooting out of them, woohoo it's amazing! Might need to stop though as I've already spent $500+ for just two wavelengths. Oh well :D

I haven't taken a look at CNI's lab lasers yet. I might just have to. Any recommendations?

They are all pretty much the same, just depends on the color and power you want. Be aware, my first labby(a standard 100mW 655 5% stability) set me back $360, and that was from CNI's re-seller DragonLasers which have much cheaper prices then buying directly from CNI :)

Because lab lasers have much stricter standard then regular handheld/pointer lasers. Lab lasers are made for use in experimentation, projections, holography and as such must meet a certain stability level. Regular laser can vary in power by a lot, while lab lasers can remain stable for loooong period of time due to better heatsinking and TEC ;)

I had one of those 301 405nm lasers. It worked for a year then the driver caught fire.

WOW, I definitely believe it and I've smoked the driver on a few of the 301's seeing how long the duty cycle is.

I like the labby ones, but sometimes, I lose my interest into lasers, then it comes back again. :yh:

Especially the red ones. It's really hard not to get a 301 that's not 200mw. But their LED drivers blow up sometimes
