Green or Blue?

I'm debating on whether or not to get a green or a blue laser.

I want a sweet laser. Money is not really an issue, its just a matter of time.

I'm looking to get a pen-style laser.

I can buy a Nova X-Series almost right away....an X-100 or X-125

OR

I know blue lasers are expensive but I was thinking of saving up for a LaserGlow Aquarius 5 or 8.

So, inbetween the two Novalasers...is it practical to spend $329 on the X-125 or would it make sense to buy the X-100 for $110 less @ $209?

Last, I have never seen a blue laser in person but is it really worth it to spend $700-$900 on one?

Thanks,
Andy

Well, the blue laser will be lower powered as you probably already know, so it won't be anywhere near as bright as the green. You would also be able to burn stuff with the green one.Normally I would go for the x-100 but if you say money isn't an issue then get the 125, it's always better to have more power ;) just as long as you can afford goggles aswell.

You say that as if LBO crystals can be found at your local gas station.

I think you misunderstood jecs...
I would guess he means buy a DX green and build a blue-ray...
But if money is no object, buy a cheap green and buy an expensive blue ;)
Nearly everyone has a green these days, very few have blue pointers.

besides he did say money isnt an issue so why choose between them when he could have both? then if hes not happy with the colors he has he can mix them for something else :p

I concur!

I got into this whole hobby when a friend showed me his 5mW DX greenie. Once I found DX, the cat was out of the bag, so to speak...

I would suggest going for the DX 200mW, which is a steal at the price. That will give you a great burning visible beam so you can experience the power! Then blow out your bankroll on a nice blue just for the colour. I bought an RPL-10 from Jack at Optotronics, but the beam just wasn't visible enough for my work, so I've upgraded to an RPL-30 (now in transit), which has left a huge hole in my wallet, but will be awesome I'm sure.

If you want to stick with pen-style, LaserGlow's Aquarius series is worth the money, but not CW. (not an issue unless scanning)

It's easy to get hooked (and poor fast), so welcome to the club and have fun!

Cheers, CC

really depends on wether u want green or blue. blue is rare, its expensive but really looks amazing.
dont buy the pen-style aquarius, i heard even the 20mw is a bit of a rip off - barely noticable outdoors at night -
go for an RPL, u may get hold of a 35-43mw blue.
if u want a greenie pseudo sells 150mw X-series style pointers for around $350

If you want high powered green, and money is no object, go for a RPL from www.optotronics.com . Prolly the best green laser out there. DX lasers are a gamble, youd rarely get 200mw, and they seem to have mode hopping issues. If money is no object, go for optotronics or laserglow!

well i have an aries-35 and it can burn if i focus the dot with a magnifying glass....but its pretty big, id like to have something to slip in my pocket

i was thinking of saving up for an aries 150 IF i was gonna get an RPL

i really want someting to carry in my pocket though, i think a nova x125 will do the job ;D
