Yes. I think they forgot that 6x6 is 1/4 the area of 12x12, not half. heh.

But this is still the only example I can think of something getting more expensive the more you order.. typically it's reversed. However in their defense.. They don't say how wide a 50m roll is. If it's 36" wide, it comes out to $3.83/ft2

6 x 6 x 2 sheets = 72 square inches (for $1.98)
12 x 12 = 144 square inches (for $3.99)

Isn't it half the price, for half the amount of material ?!?

Yeah... but the 6" X 6" sheets nets you a saving of
$0.03 per square foot...

Personally, I'm guessing it's a 450nm laser. They're paying off a lot of people if they call that a class 1 laser though!

It's not a 450nm. There's no reason they would use an expensive diode when a much cheaper 405nm would work better as well.

There seems to be alot of knowledge floating around about what it is/isn't, yet nobody here has seen one in person....

Will someone with a LPM buy one already so we can put this to rest? :p

Well i'm certain my 'guess' is correct. There is zero reason for them to use 450nm diodes. They cost more, and cause a lot less reactance in UV materials than cheaper 405nm diodes would.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the 405 they used for the commerical is much more powerful than what you receive in the box (I'm hoping).

I heard that adding fog to a room makes the beam stand out.

But you can't believe everything you hear on the internet :p

Maybe the actual product is 405, but I think they made the commercial with a 450nm.

nah do you have a 405nm? fluorescent surfaces they look like a blue not the violet they really are...

also most lasers with enough fog are visible

Here's what a 405nm and a 450nm spot look like next to each other when placed on a fluorescent surface and a non fluorescent surface (my hand):

405nm 10mW on LEFT, 450nm 50mW on RIGHT

The camera is rather overexposed when the two spots are on my hand, but you can see that there is a slight violet tinge on the 405, and not on the 450. The two spots on white paper do look identical in color though.

There is ZERO reason for them to be using a 445 in these. They're more expensive, have poorer beam shapes for writing, and because of their potential powers, would make the product more prone to hacking / modding / abuse.

This is either a sub-PHR power 405nm diode, or a collimated LED.
