Getting back into it after years away... A couple questions

Hello all!

I'm looking to pick up a few new lasers after years away from this hobby. There are two things that I am particularly interested in, and have been wondering about.

First, is it even possible to get the at or slightly overspec Leadlights anymore? I'd really like a 7-10mW 532 greenie to match [below].

Secondly, does anyone know if the Dragon Lasers Viper 637nm, 50mW laser is worth a damn? I've been waiting for something like that for years and plan to get one soon.

Thanks in advance guys!

Rob

Welcome back to the forum quadcam! :D

Would also love to know about the leadlights! Those were all the rage back when I got into the hobby. My first >5mW laser was a modified leadlight from back when WL sold pre modified ones. Would love one for nostalgia as much as anything.

Welcome back!

I have owned both a Dragon Lasers Viper and Spartan and have been very impressed with their quality.

I've heard rumors that quality has gone down over the years, mostly from reading this forum, but I cannot confirm that.

I do know that my favorite laser, currently, is a Dragon Lasers Spartan 532nm.

Thanks guys!

Well I've ordered the 50mW viper 637 on Friday! However, I've not had any reply yet other than the automated payment confirmation thingy. How long does it normally take them to acknowledge payment and ship my laser?

DragonLasers ships via CNI so you'll get it shipped via FedEx Int'l priority, which is guaranteed to get anywhere in the world in 3 business day(which from my experience has been the case). I'm not sure how pointers work(as I've been ordering labbies which take a little longer) but CNI will need to produce your laser first which can take anywhere from 2-10 days. Once CNI has completed your pen you will receive a tracking # from DL :)

Have fun with it!

I believe DL ships their handhelds themselves and only has CNI ship custom orders.

My 40mW Viper is still going strong, love it. You really can't go wrong with CNI lasers honestly.

Thanks guys! I'm a huge fan of CNI lasers. I've got a 20ish mW Laserglow Aurora from 2006 around here somewhere, and its still going strong! Part of the reason I'm even willing to risk this laser is that it is a CNI product. I didn't realize that Dragon was basically a drop shipper though.

So if I understand you guys correctly, the main part of the holdup for me is the laser being prepared by CNI and then readied for shipment?

Thanks all!

In a way, yes! It all depends on whether DL has the pointer on hand or if it must go through CNI first. Try sending DL an email to see what is the case. If it's the latter, give it a couple days :)

I agree with everyone here. I own a Spartan 589 and love it. ReLly high quality laser in a solid host. Their customer care can be quationable though and I have had negative experiences with Adam but he seems to show some improvements in that area.

Also Laserbtb is my new favorite company their products are very good and priced well for what you get.
But for true low power 532 Laserglow has some nice ones. Finding true power quality 532 can be difficult. LG has them.

Yeah Laserglow has some good quality stuff as well. Sadly they don't ship handhelds to nearly every country anymore. Makes me wonder why they still sell them at all.

Woke up to a pair of emails this morning. Adam confirmed the order, and I also had a tracking number. Everything's going good! I had never ordered from China before, but it seems to be working out ok. :)

I have ordered some optics and accessories recently from DL and Adam was very helpful and fast in replying. Ordering from DL was a dream compared to CNI. Ordering from CNI felt more like buying a house than a laser.
