You could use a paintball gun I mention because nobody said it in this post I didn't read.

I think he's plainly trying to get the Mrs in her jami jams. Sick bastard.

Laserdelic: Too much violence? What, against video cameras? Are you a member of the society for the prevention of cruelty to camcorders? You shouldn't be against me, at least I'm not using a camera to record violence. But still, too many cameras are being used, against their will, to film terrible things (like police chases, shootings, and weddings).

Just terrible!

Things had the best suggestion of pulsing the IR beams.

You don't have to spend much, just buy:
New 2.2V 808nm CW 300mW High Power Burning Infrared IR Laser Diode Module Lab | eBay

throw them in an aixis module, drive each one with a $5 LM317 driver, pulse them on and off with a 555 timer, and mount each piece to your deck with these:
Metal Bracket/Tripod For 12mm Dia.Laser Module/Heatsink Ring/Laser Test Fixture | eBay

aim them in, and let it run - be free. Then throw beer bottles in your own yard for all it matters. Not a thing he could do about it.

This should cost ~$15. $25 if you want to throw beer bottles in your yard.

EDIT: You could borrow someone's CO2 laser...

Ever here of a pellet gun? so he has proof? What he going to sue you? 445nm lasers aimed at them for a few minutes would make them never work again but you would need a good focus and tri-pod, a rock is cheaper. I would knock on his door and calmly tell him he has a choice, he can move his spy camera or loose his teeth. OR you could just put up something in the way to block them if your law abiding and worried about jail.

I just got another good idea... tell the cops he's using the camera to look at little kids.

Can we say.... 5 o'clock news @ 4:30?

I suggested this before in another thread.

Of course the downside to this approach is you need kids... and if you don't have any (as is probably the case with OP), how the hell are you gonna explain the presence of naked kids on your balcony.... :shhh:

1W 445nm on a tripod aimed directly at the lens for a whole duty cycle... done. Repeat as needed to kill said cameras and any further replacements of said cameras. Personally, I wouldn't be afraid of him going to the police since his side would be stupid and, how would he or the police be able to tell what happened to the cameras unless you did physical damage to the outside or they watched over recordings. Its not like the police will give a flying duck about his little cameras pointed at your property and they certainly would not use the resources to determine what caused the damage to them.

@Flaminpyro
Then he would have to deal with looking at the blinds and he would have to go out and buy them. He already has the lasers :D

TBH, if someone was doing that to me I definitely would want to ruin them just to get back at them for trying it. To do it is extremely rude and a blatant invasion of privacy which in my books would line up for a nice little 10 minutes of revenge.

take a picture of your balcony from the positions of the cameras and hang them up infront of the cameras' range of view. that way he will just think nothings happening. LOL
@InfinitusEquitas. you just made me LOL so fucking hard.

I have some cameras like that and they go to a dvr. They record CONTINUOUSLY.
So if you do anything and it is in view of the cameras, it will still be recorded.
For example if you go on the deck and blast them with a laser they may be destroyed but you will be on video doing it, or anything else.

This is very true they are probably recording all the time and if you do any thing that they can see it will be recorded, stand to one side

Stand to one side if you care. I for one wouldn't care if i were recorded in that situation.

I can do this, I have the Wicked ~1W 445nm Arctic, which has a 100% duty cycle and a battery that lasts about an hour at full blast. I can duct tape it to my camera tripod.

Is there a reason why 445nm is better at causing mayhem than other wavelengths?

And I really don't care if his tape shows me setting up the laser, like I said, he's more than welcome to try and tell this insane story to the cops. They aren't likely to have any sympathy after he says "so I was illegally filming my neighbor with a hidden camera when..."

The reason I suggest a 445nm is they typically have crazy outputs so they would be good at burning out a camera :D

The reason they typically have crazy outputs is because there has been more research into making them more powerful for use inside projectors. Unfortunately most of the other wavelength diodes are not really required at high power other than for pointers so less research is done into making them super high output.

Here's an update:

bf928e8cdd8775f6be08e782095b27cc_zps4eed1730.jpg

That's what the cameras look like while getting zapped with my 455nm Arctic, approximately 750mw of blue, image sensor-frying goodness.

It took forever to get the laser aligned right into the lens from 35 feet away, but as you can see I managed a bullseye. Of course after I finally got it going the battery died after about 20 mins, but if that's not enough time to permanently damage the sensor, it just ain't gonna happen with a laser.

I also took the advice of a super soaker and had fun last night spraying both of them with water. Sometime this weekend I'll pick up some of that special pool-cleaning acid that was mentioned somewhere in this thread and give them a very special bath.

If anyone else has any suggestions of what I can mix with water that would do damage to the cameras, please speak ! Since they are designed to be setup outdoors, my guess is they are fairly waterproof. So I'm sure it will take an additive of some sort to make them beg for mercy.

I ALSO picked up a BB gun that has a pellet speed of 1200 feet per second (the average gun seems to be around 350fps) so I'm sure a shot with this thing will be pretty lens-busting.

But can you believe the damn gun didn't come with ANY ammo?? Even the guys is the shop were sure it would come with at least a small supply.

I did buy extra, but despite being the right size the pellets are the wrong shape (perfectly round) and when I loaded one into to back of the barrel (it's a rifle) it just rolled down and out the other side!

The ones pictured on the box have pointed arrow heads, so I'll have to find some place in town that has them (despite living in Los Angeles, where you'd think you can easily find anything, sometimes it's amazing how impossible it is to find something like a certain style of sunglasses or, in this case, a specific kind of BB....

More updates as news breaks! And hopefully the cameras too :)
