Hello folks,

I should be getting my $500 sometime back from LaserGlow next week and decided that instead of buying a 635nm PL-E I should get myself an LPM since I get so frustrated at times of not knowing my lasers output, as im sure some other members have! I do have a couple questions first:

-I spoke with ultimatekaiser about Laserbee's not being ideal for DPSS lasers but all I am looking for is a rough estimate of my lasers power, nothing particularly precise. Would a Laserbee be fine? Below is the one I was eyeing.
Link: https://www.laserbeelpm.com/laserbee-a.html

-How does an LPM work? I see they list that you must shine your unfocused laser onto the black matte surface. Is that so? Wouldn't the power reading be off?

If anyone has any other similar looking LPM's that would be great! I am not looking to spend very much, around $200(MAX).

Thank you guys,
Alex :)

Wow that's not a bad price, I think they lowered it since I last looked.

There is a small black square sensor that is attached to that heatsink, the laser dot must be all on that square, warning this is hard to see with safety glasses on, the first time I tried to use one I peeked over my glasses from about 2 feet away to see if I had it right, wasn't thinking about what I was doing, too close for a 1.5W, am more careful now.

Be sure to close all windows and turn off any fans heat etc. so the air is still, and nothing close to throw off the reading, even your hand close to it puts out enough heat, put the laser 4 to 8 inches from the sensor, otherwise just heat from the laser will make it inaccurate.

Has anyone tried any of the LPMs from O-like? For $300-325 they have some that are supposedly capable of reading up to 10W.

Hap,
Good deal hope you get it great price even though the shipping is $15.00. You go my man now at least you might have an LPM. Tools of the trade are a must, Man does not live by lasers alone we need lots of equipment and tools to make things run.

Yes! I'm so tired of always guessing what the output is or making sure I get a power graph with my lasers, forget that lol. :)

Hi Hap,

Your going to go crazy with this LPM i love mine and always curious what the builds will do. And it's funny as you know some diode at a certain setting is luck of the draw.
