Check to make sure the battery is touching the contact board. Check continuity through the tail switch. Any chance you put the battery in wrong?

"All modules are tested for function and performance, minimum output power is 500 +/- 50mW with a standard 3-element AR coated glass lens (650mW +/- 50mW with a G-1 or G-2 lens and "2 fully charged RCR123A batteries."

It says on their site it takes "2, RCR123A batteries." Maybe? :thinking:

Ps; do not use two 18350's or two 16340's voltage will be to high and blow the diode and maybe the driver also. Hope it helps. :)

haha well you can tell im a noob then, you nailed it in one BobMc. went out and bought 2 RCR123A batteries and it worked.

Dont know why i thought the single 18650 would work :/

Thanks again mate :)

I always hate to see these nickle plated brass modules used by Chinese sellers. They are crap. You would do better to buy from DTR. The modules are precisely made copper, the diodes are far cheaper and the drivers are much better than the ones used by SL. I personally build all my own laser pointers, so I get the best prices one can get and since I am responsible for the build, it always works well to my specifications.

Hi,
I will agree with paul the 12mm modules from DTR are the best and also hie SXD.X Drives and Black buck Drivers. You get what you Pay for. I don't use anything else in any of my builds that i sell . Folks deserve the best for a quality laser. Thats how i am to deliverer a great product at a reasonable price. I see you did well with your first build, SL puts out some great product and Gary is up front and always willing to help. I bought from him for years and never have a bad product from him.

I had the same issue when I built my 16x. I tried using a 18650 because it says to be used on a single 3.7 volt cell and it was super dim, like 20mw dim but I threw a couple LiFePo4s in there and it fired right up :thinking:

Haha, I'm just glad its working now. Couldn't be more happy with how it all went.

I did have a good look at DTRs diodes and modules, but decided to go with SL just because the pre-soldered driver and diodes with the host bundle made it seem so simple for a first build (even though I still managed to get the batteries wrong lol)

now that I've been bitten by the laser bug, I do want to build a 532nm, and will take yours and Pauls advice on DTRs modules

@Cometh

Unfortunately you will find that DPSS lasers are one thing DTR doesn't have supplies for. If it is green you are interested in, he stocks several 520nm and others close to that WL. To build a DPSS laser you will have to decide what power you want and then I may be able to help.
