EXPLODING laser targets??

On ebay there is this thing called Big Blast Target Inflator that is a rubber valve and a bottle cap with a hole in it. It's used to pressurize pop bottles which then explode when shot.
I don't know about lasers and here is the help I'm asking for: If I would stick a black label on the side of a 2-liter plastic bottle that's pumped up to 100 psi -- is there an affordable off the shelf laser pointer that would heat the black label enough (from a safe distance of 10-15 feet) to soften, wouldn't have to burn or melt, the plastic enough to make the bottle blow up?
I've never had a powerful laser and would appreciate any and all advice.

I want to make noise with a laser!!

Thanks to all

First I don't think its safe to pressurize a normal plastic bottle to 100psi.

Second it may take long and after the take is burned trough you have the same clear bottle again which won't burn through unless you have a co2 laser.

Third if you only get a small hole the sound might not be a "bang" but a relatively slow air escaping sound.

I would just fill a balloon with hydrogen or h2 o2 from electrolysed water or use just some flash powder if i wanted a "exploding" laser target.

Edit: I see this is your first post please introduce yourself to the forum and read the rules and stickies.

What is your black label made of that will hold 100psi in a bottle and how are you going to inflate the bottle?
Yes a laser will melt black plastic, black tape, and probably whatever your label is made of if it isn't metal of some kind. I'm thinking melting or "softening" as you say will release the pressurized air out slow and not pop or make noise but I could be wrong.

That depends on what you consider
affordable. It would take probably at
least 1-2 watts. You should also invest in
a good pair of laser safety glasses at
these power levels. PLEASE FILL OUT YOUR
LOCATION INFORMATION IN YOUR PROFILE SO WE
CAN RECOMMEND SOMETHING BASED ON WHAT IS
LEGAL IN YOUR AREA.

Flat black spraypaint would work better
than a label.

Safe air pressure levels will depend on the
type of bottle. Thicker plastic like
coke/pepsi bottles will hold 60-80psi
fairly safely. More than that and you risk
blowing your hand off. I would keep them
on a "leash" and away from body parts.
Watch you face and hands.

Balloons also make a bang when popped. Not that loud, but you can put one balloon inside another to rise burst pressure. Can get quite loud! :eg:

Well the Lighting Stalker told me what I needed to know -- cheap laser ain't gonna do it.

Making noise is fun and big noise is even more fun. I love it when I can make the mountains come alive with the sound of... explosions.

I've got a very large stash of ammo that I don't dare play with right now due to concerns about what our government is up to and the thought of needing it later and that's why the laser became interesting to me, if I could blow pop bottles with it I could 'salute' my neighbor every time his deer rifle makes me jump, I'd give him one back with a 2-liter blast. And they'd be good for keeping deer away like other repellants don't.

So guys, I do appreciate the help but now I'm thinking that a high powered airgun would be a more useful investment that a big money laser.

Let me leave you with this, it's a great little video demonstration of how quickly 100 psi dissipates from an exploding cola bottle. Wouldn't recommend copying this guy though he's just asking for some instant 'plastic' surgery.

The good stuff starts at the 35 second mark:

Carbon dioxide laser would do it, and you wouldn't even need to paint the bottle black.

Another radical worried about our government, I see.... well, count me in as one too. I wonder if you could buy some flash powder and fill something with it that wouldn't hurt anyone if they exploded like a fire cracker when hit with intense laser light.

Well, Hydrogen+Chlorine Hit with 405 or 445nm in a balloon seems to work quite well. There are some Videos showing this on YouTube...

You could make hho gas aka Brown's gas into a balloon. Just be sure to use a bubbler to stop the back flow in your generator.
