Strange question...But has anyone ever seen a lense that would evenly distribute a laser modules energy in a uniform circular pattern like that of an LED.

I.E. I would like to be able to produce a circular pattern with aproximately a 6-20 degree viewing angle.

Has anyone seen any lenses for 12mm modules that would enable me to do this?

I'm not sure if I am understanding you correctly but I think you may be looking for a beam expander. You might want to search for beam expander and see..

Already seen those, they expand the beam and keep it at a constant....like this

____________
____________

What I'm after is more of an led projection pattern i.e. like this

<

So obviously the power would drop off over distance much quicker than a laser with a normal optic/lense fitted

You can remove the lens from the Aixiz module. My LPC-826 gives a perfect circular output with even distribution of light.

All my modules give me a rectangular diffuse pattern, with the lense removed...

I have 500 (yes 500) 5mw 650nm aixiz modules and they are all the same.

I also have a few cheapo infrared and red modules from china that are the same in that they provide a diffuse rectangular shape with the optics removed.

You could keep the lens on and use corrective optics to get a perfectly round beam. Then you could expand it afterwards with a convex lens.

A lot of diodes do, but the 826 is a nice Gaussian dot.

I happen to have just exactly what you are looking for.

would you like to see some beam patterns ?

That would be very kind of you!

Do you need an email address or can you attach them to the thread?

Thanks,

It's actually for a medical application, namely skin conditions.

Are you intentionally trying to be ambiguous or secretive? If so, it doesn't impress people, it just makes it difficult for us to help you. I've been around long enough to know that when people make threads like these, the op has usually chosen to use a laser in a given application because it sounds cool, not because it is the best option. Prove my suspicions wrong please.

Depending on actual sizes you can use a double Concave
lens..

It seem obvious to me by what you posted that you want to
irradiate skin with the expanded Laser beams to "spread" the
power evenly... Correct me if I'm wrong...:)

@FP... I'd like to see those pics as well...

I'm really not and i'm surprised anyone would think that. As per Jerry... I am trying to irradiate a large area of skin evenly from given distances in order to deliver a specific level of iradiation over a given time period.

I have been using light to heal medical conditons for a long time and i'm working on a device that I don't want to give much information away on as i'm working on a patent. So I supposed I was trying to give enough information but not too much as to confuse the situation, I don't want people second guessing my needs.

I am sorry if it came across as secretive and believe me I am not trying to come across as "cool".

If you want more information I can tell you that I am developing a device that uses PWM to deliever various pulse frequencies of red and infra red light to heal inflammatory conditions of the entire body, including systemic disorders. Key to this being effective is delivering the correct level of energy per cm2 of surface area, lasers are currently only used for spot treatments due to their directional nature.
