I have entered into a 12 step program for LASER addiction. Symptoms of withdrawl include relentless scribbling, zoning out during conversations with my girlfriend, and dreams about walnuts shooting laser beams.

The solution, for me at least, this summer, is to learn SolidWorks.

I do most of my stuff in Solidworks. I'm not a pro but I can help you get started if needed. The tutorials are pretty good though. Well, they were in the 2006 version, not sure about the recent ones :D

If you are still in school get the student version. I think its around $160 or even free. If you want to use it as a professional it costs somewhere around $3500 per seat.

Parts came today!

I have to say they look very precise. The lead time was estimated slightly longer than actual delivery. Take a look at the Solidworks model as compared to the actual part, images attached. Can't wait to press in a diode and see how it fits!

UPDATE: MORE PARTS

Everything worked, however they were unable to do 1 set of threads which I will have to redo. Overall the experience was worth it and a great deal, however not without its fair share of hickups. For a bump free experience do not use this company for anything but the simplest parts.

I guess technically this thread isn't dead so ill post my .02¢ there is a guy im working with, he runs a shop and knows his stuff. He has been really busy with...more important orders so we haven't talked in a while. But last time I was there I asked if it gets slow, would he be interested in making parts for guys on here that need them. He said he might be. So essentially...I could get parts prototyped out for really cheap.

Like I said. Anything I give him wouldn't be too much priority but the guy is pretty cool.
