I have just orderd a 1mw Green Laser from China.

As this is coming to Australia I have asked the vendor if it is definately =/<1mw.
They answered yes, so it should be safe from customs, who will take it if it is >1mw. And if they do I should be able to get my money back.

Onto the cost. I paid $12.99 for it on eBay, but now the site has increased their price by $100 to $112.99.
They have increased their price on their siste site by about $110.

Seems strange to me.

Anyway here is the one I've ordered.

I've been seeing eBay sellers increase their price x10 when they are out of stock on an item.
It is to prevent people from buying without having to end the auction or list the item as out of stock.

Just an FYI... I have 2 identical hosts which came from eBay last year... right down to the little dimples on the rear of the barrel. One was pot-moded just for fun and turns out 37mW of total energy after 15 seconds of warm-up. The original one hits 26 mW in 15 seconds and then continues to 37mW in 40 seconds. Plotted with LaserBee LPM USB.

These units do not have IR filtering.

From my understanding of the way DPSS lasers are made, I would think it would be difficult to produce one <1mW unless both an IR filter and a ND filter were used.

Just curious, but when you get it, perhaps a report on how much current is being drawn from the 2-AA batteries. The Fluke is showing 235mA on the original unit.

a crappy 1mw laser is not worth 12.99 nevermind 112.99 that is ridiculous. I see those for like 2.00 :lasergun:

Like Moebius said its probably more of a placeholder at $112.99.

But I havent got a poblem with $12.99, which is pretty good for where I live, unless customs confiscates it.

Just as an update, customs did seize it as being >1mW.

It took a while to get the notification from customs, but the vendor had already refunded the money as a few others had met the same fate.

I sent an email to customs for more information.
They re tested the output and it was 38.47mW.

Just a bit over the 1mW advertised and legally allowed to be imported.

Well, hopefully someone made some money off of them and jacked up the price x1,000,000 because it's, you know, the government and stuff. :D
