On 14th March I placed an order for the DX200 Red laser (plus two other cheap items), their website stating it was in stock and ships in 2-3 business days. On the 20th, I get a notice the order is shipping.  It turns out only one of the cheapies shipped.  Fine.  Let's wait for the next one.  On the 25th, I get another notice that the order is shipping, turns out it's only the second cheap item.  Ok, we will wait till the 30th, since that is when it is supposed to arrive at DX.

On the 30th, DX site tells me it's in packaging.  But this morning I got aa surprise, and it's no April Fools, now it's "Processing", and they won't even get the laser in till the 5th!

Mind you, the laser is almost 90% of the order's value.  I'm seething now, as I won't see this thing for nearly a month.  The bad thing is, I want to cancel the order, but do not want to pay double to triple DX's price for a homebrew red.

Anyone else order around the 14th and got their laser already?

That's not the only factor though, as it's mainly just DX' use of cheap, cheap shipping. I have received packages from China to the Netherlands in 3 days for example.

the only problem that exists with DX is the shipping times. You're paying 1/3 the price of a DIY red so don't be expecting miracles especially with the fact that DX uses FREE shipping. wicked charges $20 to ship a single pair of goggles ::)

No, the problem isn't the shipping itself. Despite always showing "In Stock" until today, they don't even have my freaking laser in yet!

I received the first item today. Once it leaves their door, it's e-z mode. The shipping itself isn't the problem here.

I ordered the 18th, and had the same thing with the order going back to processing after some other items had been sent off the 21st. (those are at the post office here already, no hurry to collect them). Yesterday the finally sent off the 200 mw laser as well, so it should be here in a week or so.

I guess yours will ship very soon, as mine was on the waiting list as well for a while and order after yours.

That's not the only factor though, as it's mainly just DX' use of cheap, cheap shipping.

Usually i am really pleased with that.. even a few dollars worth is sent free of shipping charges and arrives here after only a week (and a half, sometimes). Amazing when you think of it, all the way from hong kong.

DX order times only go sour once they run out of stock, or receive a defective batch from their manufacturers. Since most of those are in discount china, it happens more often than you'd like.

But at these prices: stop complaining, or buy locally for 10x as much and have it the next day ;)

OK, that's BS.  I ordered mine four days prior, and got the runaround.  Please re-read, I ordered the 14th. And now it won't ship till the 5th, meaning I won't see it for another three weeks.

No it's deceptive at any price; stringing me along with "In Stock" when it's not is extremely poor business practice.  It's a valid complaint when others placed orders after me and got shipped before mine.

I think what people are trying to say is that you can vote with your dollars. Either pay the better price and et what you want, or settle for what they have on their terms and price. This forum has ample postings saying that DX is exactly what you are saying it is: a great deal, but it may take weeks or even months for the stuff to get here. I recently ordered 4 items from them: 2 shipped in 3 days, 1 a week after that, and the last 2 days after that. I got an e-mail every time saying the order had shipped, but if you did through the "chinglish" and bad wording on the status pages on their site and in their e-mails, I found which pieces had shipped. They weren't trying to be deceptive saying that the order had shipped, they just weren't able to communicate that some of the order had shipped and some hadn't.

It's a great price, you just have to wait for it, sometimes forever.

Good luck, it'll be here.

TLDR version: If they said "Back Ordered" or "Out of Stock" instead of "In Stock", I wouldn't have ordered it in the first place.

It's a matter of principle. They have my money and they keep changing the ship date. Others have ordered after me and got theirs.

If you don't see what's screwed up about that, you must have blinded yourself with your lasers.

I ordered mine a while back too, and my status has reverted to "processing", so it looks like I will be waiting until at least the 8th for shipping.

But hey, thats life, some things are worth waiting for. On the plus side I ordered 5x CR2 batteries for the beast and they only took 3 days to ship from Hong Kong to the UK. So at least I will have some batteries when it finally arrives.

I guess you should be able to expect something marked 'in stock' to ship the next day or so, regardless of how long its en route to your address after that.

One problem with DX seems to be that they do not actually have stock themselves. Every order starts with 'collecting from suppliers' or something similar. I guess that is where it goes wrong, suppliers not delivering and all. Perhaps they should note more clearly that the stock indications are not always accurate.

there will always be "delays" of some sort when you order from DX. Just wait it out...

I feel your pain. I ordered this http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10557 on Feb 27th and it SHIPPED yesterday. When I ordered it said IN STOCK and the next day I checked and it had been changed to back ordered 30 days. Other than this one item I haven't had many problems with dx so I'm not too pissed off.

With Dx it works best if you order and then just forget about it for a couple of weeks. Checking the status of your order every day will just lead to frustration.

Same thing happened to me - the batteries arrived today, but the laser shipped this morning.
I can put up with a few hiccups, considering what I paid for the thing...

Same thing happened to me. I was expecting this to happen so I don't really care, I have enough burning red lasers anyway so I'm not in a huge hurry to get mine. One thing to note when ordering from DX is that their "In stock" label is a little delayed, so if you get unlucky the item you ordered gets back ordered the day after you buy it. But really, where else can you get a PEN SIZED 150mW+ red laser for $54? You can get some DIY box styles for that price, but you can't get pen styles at that price anywhere else.
