I work with 3D software, I do have photoshop, but I'm not very good with it so that kind of banner isn't my "specialty"...

But I could give a try for a static one.

There were some things I wasn't thrilled with while I was rendering some of the frames. Niko's suggestion helped me talk myself into a better version. I'm glad you like it. The new one will have the same theme, just spiffier. Just curious with this question: Where did the max size of 488k come from? I left some work out to keep it under.

I use Blender, I don't have a lot of experience, but I did make a pretty good banner for Stonetek. You can take a look at it in the contest thread.

Well my thought was uploading the image to my sig, so it has to have limitations. But if you want to host the file on your site than by all means have at it.

Ok TJ, here are my offerings. All versions are 500x200 px.

Of course, I can host any image(s) on my site, but that only means the viewer's browser goes to roosl.com to open the file instead of laserpointerforums/members/tech_junkie/albums/some-art-me/ or where ever you want to keep it. If the size of the file is of any concern, I understand. If you decide you like my design, choose any of the version(s) you want.

Version 1: GIF, 476K. This is the only animation that is under your size limit.


Version 1: JPG, 87K. High resolution static image of the last frame.


Version 2: GIF, 571K. This is similar to version 1 with the LPF logo added as a background. It helps address a visual balance issue as it plays, as Niko mentioned.


Version 3: GIF, 752K. This is all new, albeit similar to version 2, with several additional elements (including a direct hit in the eye).


Version 3: JPG, 88K. High resolution static image of the last frame.


I hope you're having an awesome Thanksgiving weekend. I am! Four days off, then Monday is work-from-home day, woohoo!

The file size restrictions are the forum's restrictions not mine. The hosted pictures have less restrictions, if any at all. I've seen very large hosted pictures posted. So sure...if you dont mind hosting the file, its ok with me.

I like number 3 GiF. I like the way it starts our with the forum logo, and tinted background. But I think just before the first laser fires, the "Laser Pointer Forum" text should disappear. Because once the photos start it only days "Laser P". Other than that its great. I love the background graphic and the laser effect.

That's not real art in that folder. I don't like posting my work on the net. I do a lot pen and ink work, and illustrations. I did tatts for a while but I got tired of doing clovers, butterflies, panther heads, and hearts LOL.

Ah, that 'splains it. I misunderstood that. Didn't pay any attention, 'cause of course all my images (avatar, sig, posts..) are at roosl.com.

Well, hey, if after you put it up for a vote, it's good, then I'll be glad to host it.

Pen & ink, eh? That's very cool. Until I got into this digital era, my whole life was pencil, pen & paper. I love it and still draw now and then. Then there was my "Flair" period in the 70's, influenced by the guys who did Zap and Hytone comix... lotsa little dots... who knew they'd become pixels?

Yeah I'm the stipple king. I've always liked the depth you can create with all those little dots. I have a digi pad but have not done much work with it. I drew Dark Horse's horse with it, but I did it freehand. Took me forever.


I had a copy of 3D Studio Max but never fudged around with it too much. I like freehand.

You have some nice work. You know game companies are always looking for artists.

Geeez lost track of time. Well looks like you win by default Russell. PM me your name an address an I'll send you a 7mW 635mn (orange) diode, a Senkat red diode (300mA = 200mW), a AixiZ module, and a 3/16 cracked uranium marble + repz for your effort. Just give me a few days, I'm sill waiting on a diode.
