Diodes specs and build compilation threads?

Do we need this? Good Idea/bad idea?

We used to have bunch of stickies with diode information compilations in them such as pinout, tested currents, voltages and outputs. In addition there were 2 or 3 threads with build compilations for a specific diode.

As a beginner I found them really helpful in figuring out what host to use for my own builds. Or what host is better for high outputs etc. The driver information and power-source info was also available in them.
Basically these threads were very helpful overall for beginners and I believe for a lot of regular visitors as well.
Unfortunately, those threads were not update for a while and some of them were unstikied completely.
We do have a search function now that is very helpful. But even with search, sifting through all that information is time-consuming.

My question is: would you like to see those kinds of threads again? Would it be feasible to make editable spreadsheets with this information so that anyone could go and update them?

Here is for example a copy of 12x bluray build compilation thread and 445nm builds that anyone can view and edit with some extra info:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aj-jYWRxe0w_dFZIRGVXVndJcTNJczFEYlJIRGxlckE

In the tabs we could add diode information (pinout, tested currents/voltage, output, etc)

I was thinking if people like this and think it is a good idea, I'll make more spreadsheets for all diodes we currently have and share the passwords with admins so that if someone changes permissions or something and I'm unavailable mods can fix it.

Or if somebody else decides to make similar spreadsheets for other diodes it would be great as well.

P.S. Added poll for shits and giggles :)

Good idea

We really need a compilation thread about diodes, that would help a lot, especially to new members.

lol 121 views and only 4 votes, well I'll give it a few more days I guess, but so far looks like it will be my own personal and private initiative.

Yea nothing like spending 2 weeks hundreds of bucks, then hopefully posting sweet pics and writing up again a hopefully informative thread just to have it buried in 2 minutes by someone looking for the cheapest green pointer, or my PHR after running it at for six hours at .5A is dead need help fast threads.

Since there was not much interest in this I haven't spent more time on it. But anyone can add their builds to those spreadsheets. Same links were posted in another thread with diode specs compilation.

I think this is a fantastic idea. At the very least, this would allow members to see a bunch of different builds, compare output, find a good driver current, etc.

I'll be adding to those lists soon.

*EDIT*
We need a page for reds!
