can anybody tell me the difference in colors between 300mn and 800mn?
am i correct in saying that would be the same colour?
looking at the mn colour chart it looks like they should be black!......
also would it be better a 1080 ir laser or 800mn?
Thanks in advance

I assume by "mn" you really mean nm which stands for nano-meter.  It would be deceptive to say that 300 and 800 nm have different colors since they are not part of the visible spectrum.  Your question is akin to asking "What color are microwaves?" or "What color are radio waves?".

That being said, by convention. 300nm would be pink/violet and 800 would be red/brown if they are assigned a color (Otherwise black would be correct).

1080nm and 800nm will likely be no different to you. You seem to be under the impression that you will be able to see these wavelengths though, which is false. Both will be completely invisible to the eye.

False...you can see barely 800nm, but it will be a very small red/brownish dot. 800nm is still near-infrared.
300nm is invisible to the eye, 1080nm is also invisible. But you can see 800nm (well, the 808nm diode that is (or 780nm diode for that matter)).

While some people can see outside of the visible spectrum (mainly those who are younger), by definition it is 400-750nm with infrared ranging from 750nm-1000um

thanks for exp[alnation and 691175002...thanx for "reformulating" my question!
so now my question is
would it better to buy a 1080 nm or a 800 nm??

Every colour you can see from reflected light will fall between 400-750nm give or take. Below 400 is considered UV while beyond 750 is considered to be IR. Theres different degrees of UV and IR, for example starting with near-IR then moving out to true IR (pure heat).

At that point I would mainly go with whatever is cheaper/which model you like the most. I assume that you will only be using the laser to burn stuff, so the wavelength wont make a difference.

And then the UV goes down into X-rays and gamma rays...

I'd go for 800nm. You have a slight chance seeing it (if you are young, you can definately see it), and I think it's cheaper. (Not too sure about that one)
