Craigslist Scammers amaze me... $1000.00 for 250mw... just wow

So I was looking through my local craigslist as I do from time to time. I happen to run across this: https://waco.craigslist.org/ele/5113016968.html

"i have a 250mw red laser. its waterproof and you can change the focus. you cannot get them into the US anymore unless you hire a lawyer and have him pull strings. it will pop balloons and light fireworks"

I couldn't help myself but to send a message. Because I have nothing better to do with my time apparently...

Kind of confused. Did you keep sending him the message and kept getting back that same answer?
LPC-826 diodes can be had for $5.50 sold on ebay in the US that will output 1.5x that much and Olike sells a 250mW unit right now for $28 that even includes a battery and charger. Too bad you can't post that in big Caps right next to his add.

No I actually only sent him the one message at first. After the last message I did send him one back explaining how he is obviously trying to scam someone.

I'm not sure if you are misinformed or lying. You may want to do more research. I have not had any trouble obtaining them. I mean literally NO trouble at ALL. If you import from Wickedlasers.com yes you are going to have issues. If you order diodes you will not have any issue at all. I ordered a PL-450 Osram diode with no trouble. I also had no trouble with a 1.8w 445nm which is MUCH more powerful that the one you are trying to sell for 1000.00. https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf/ also sells diodes and modules. I know for a fact he is not a scammer. You can even get a host that screws into a Mech Mod for Vapor e-cigs if you want to even go a super easy route. Or you can just buy a host off laserpointerforums.com individual. Also i'm not sure how you would say that site is a scam? It's actually a forum and doesn't sell anything directly. There are multiple users there and machinists. I personally have had a machinist there make me a custom host. I tend to think now that you are trying to scam someone.

Nope, It is not illegal to own or buy them. It is illegal to use them within 10 miles of an airport. It is illegal to point them at aircraft. It is illegal to point them at any vehicle. Beyond that it is legal. Your laser is worth maybe 200.00. The reason Wicked Lasers does not ship to the US is due to our Customs Department seizing all packages from them. It is illegal to sell laser "pointers" over 5mw. However you can re-label them "Handheld Lasers" and it becomes legal at that point. If they are described as a pointer and over 5mw it can be seized in shipping.

My current boss has a habit of craigslist trolling when hes bored. I would exactly call it trolling... but calling people out even if he has no plans of buying the item. Good stories he's told! I had to tell him about this one!

I am absolutely a craigslist troll. I used to use craigslist ALOT. My wife and I used to do a lot of garage sale hunting and we would turn a profit on stuff on craiglist. I found a C-Pap machine used at a garage sale. I picked it up for 5.00 and sold it for over 200.00. I can't remember the exact amount. It was a while back. I have not done the flipping in a while though, but now I use a facebook page called constant consignment. It is so much better. You don't get those flaky people. I'm not a huge fan of facebook, but that I do like.
