I will use this lighter to make a cool laser mainly for lighting firework fuses. I just need a flexdrive and diode.  :D

It even got a safety lock.

how do you plan on focusing? will the whole front piece(barrel) turn?
The barrel goes out in the trash. I'll adjust the focus so that it will burn where the flame used to be.

I've got a stripped out mobile phone from the 80s that I plan on using as a host when I have the time / money .

I've taken apart a lighter like that, and once the fuel and igniter are removed, none of its features function.
It might be difficult to modify the lighter for a laser and keep the safety lock.

Wow, I've never seen that before! Very creatively. :)

I can't find the topic right now, but somebody made an MXDL host which contained THREE lasers - green, red and violet. That was way cool, imagine three parallell beams of different colors - all in one host! ;D

Something I haven't seen yet (perhaps because it must be dificult to do) is a laser host made of wood. That would've been cool, but maybe not so functional (heatsinking and such). :-/

it would be relatively easy to do that in a VicLight, because the host is so large, you can just remove the LEDs and replace them with hosts, it should all fit as long as you keep the heat sinks and drives to a small degree anyway
