From concept to reality - Phobos host (taking orders)

Oh hell yeah.

Just be careful, scratches and wear shows really badly on polished stuff, so keep it stored in a soft cloth or something.

Their home is a nice pelican case with fitted foam. Ill handle them gently. Also if they ever get scratched i can buff em out and repolish. Btw....any chance you could make a few heatsinks for me? Real simple stuff.

Question to anyone who has ordered and received there Phobos that live in the US, how many days exactly did it take from the day it was shipped to the day you got it?
It has been 14 days now and it is still not here, i was told it would take about two weeks so im not too worried yet just excited and the anticipation is killing me to be waiting this long. But wanted to know if this is normal for people living on the US or if its starting to get a little on the longer shipping time?
I really cant wait to get mine, i was going to polish it up too just like the one above that looks awesome, what did you use to polish it? air tools, bench electric tools, or good old elbow grease? what kind of compound do you use with it as well. Im not sure how im going to polish mine yet as the stuff i have to polish aluminum with now would take forever to do the entire host so i was thinking about going out and getting some new stuff and curious to what you used for yours.
I should be able to order another 1 or 2 more here soon as well once i get this one in and get the build done.

Ehh, two weeks, give or take, there's never really a definite number of days it takes. Variables such as lazy office workers and shitty weather can really scretch things out.

Don't worry though, I'm sure it'll be there any minute.

That seems like a good, tough design, and a good price for it.

It also shouldnt be difficult to machine, even with a manual lathe. But if you have even a basic CNC lathe, then you could blast the individual parts out 50-100-500 at a time, consistently, somewhat quickly!

Only manual lathe here. There's no CNC lathe in this entire part of Croatia, and certanly not enough money in all middle-class households put together for one Bit exaggarating there, sorry.

We're working with what we have.

A manual lathe can create items with great precision. I have ordered heatsinks from Eudaimonium and the quality is outstanding !

Well, if you put the same Croatian quality into that host that Croatians put into my Springfield XDM9, which was originally designed and still produced in Croatia(and probably better than the Glock) then your design should hold up well......

Ahh, the factory near Karlovac, pistol's original designation was HS2000, as in "Hrvatski samokres", or "Croatian pistol", though 'samokres' is an archaic word which denotes a pistol which used flint to ignite a powder charge, like a musket.

Sadly I never got to see it's products, I trust Russian pistols

package came today, the package was damaged ripped all over and in a special bag to save its contents with an apology note from the post office. The host was undamaged and arrived as it should. I thought it came with the clicky on/off switch but i must have been mistaken. Can you tell me the size i need and possibly a link as to where to get one?
The host looks amazing, good work!
Only thing holding me back now is a switch, maybe radio shack will have one i could pick up to get things moving..?

If you buy these from DX, make sure and buy plenty extra, quality control is awful on them, had 3 bad out of a 5 pack.

It's a standard 16mm clicky switch for flashlights, like ones Clif linked. Thanks Clif!

So your post office was nice enough to include apology letter, huh? Ask MarioMaster how boxes from Croatia arrive. Once, they tore the box so hard that 3 heatsinks fell out and never got to him. It's horrible!

I'm glad that the host is not damaged, at least.

From now on I should label the contents as "Nitro-freaking-glicerin" and signature "IdareYOU".

Yeah that just causes even more damage, because Eff you, that's why.
Also, it costs a LOT of money to have it stamped as Fragile.

Can anyone tell me what the two RED diameters in this photo are? I'm going to try to find a sexier chrome clicky at Digikey.



Also - if anyone wants a particular driver made for this host, lets talk about that. I'll have some free time in May, and I'm open to adapting the PCBs I have to be size compatible with this host.

We could do a derivative of the BenBoost, a 1A linear for Mits 300 diodes, maybe a 1.7A for the Mits 500s.
