Just thinking here. There are a lot of good cheap portable hosts now days. Combining multiple diodes inside a lab unit is great, except then they aren't portable has anyone experimented with a lab unit that combines multiple beams but with removable portable lasers providing the beams? Imagine a square labby with a big solid heatsink with holes machined in to it that perfectly fit a specific portable host. Optics inside are fixed in position. You insert hosts, click em on, and VOULA! several lesser portables combined in to one powerful lab unit (albeit battery powered lab unit unless you make some external power connections) Would make a neat storage solution for your portables too If I had a mill and lathe I would be all over it.
