If I combine a 100mw Red (650nm) and a 30mw Green (532nm) what colour would the beam be? Yellow or Orange?

Whiled I am here, does anyone know the name of the lens used to combine the beams?

if your thinking about buying a green hold fire.

if you really want some good shit, mod your current red to analogue then buy an analogue green.

So using these (http://www.edmundoptics.com/UK/onlinecatalog/displayproduct.cfm?productID=2433) I simply set them up like this?

yep just like that.

but what im getting at is, if you really want a good scanner, you can convert your red from TTL to analogue for £20[/quote]

To be honest with you taking on building my own scanner was ambitious enough, I have have one 75mw laser pointer which is my first real pointer other than the cheap 1mw red keyring ones. So I have moved from my first scanner straight onto building my own scanner, plus I have little knowledge of electrics either so my dad is helping.

I think I will keep what I have without playing about with it and highly likely breaking it.

I want to be able to have a RGY scanner. So when green is off the red needs to be visible, when red is off and green is on, the green is visible ect.

The diagram you posted before explains your own question.

Look at the dichro no. 2 above the red laser. In that particular setup, the dichro is passing the green light through and reflecting the red light at 45 deg.

And if you swapped the red and green lasers around, you would need a different dichro, that would pass red and reflect the green light.

Now, I'm not expert on this. I'm sure Andy can put it a better way, but that's just my understanding from what I've gathered on this forum.

nope, thats spot on

with that dig you do need some text

One - is a mirror to reflect 532nm (green) 90 degrees into the galvo mirrors
Two - is a dichro that reflects 650nm (red) and pass 532nm (green) allowing red to mix with green, to make yellow
Three - is a dichro that reflects 473nm (blue) and pass 650nm and 532nm. Allowing blue to mix with red and green to make white (although shown as black)

What exactly do you mean passing the colour? Whats the difference between passing the colour and reflecting it?
