Hello,

I'm in the market for a laser pointer < $50.
I tried to utilize the forums without posting, going to the reviews sections and searching. There is so much information it ended up confusing me more then guiding me to the right product. If there's already a beginning buying guide on these forums I would be appreciative for a link.

If there's not a guide, let me just post what I'm looking for maybe someone can help.

Intended use: for fun
Price < $50
Durable construction (won't break easily)
As bight as I can get for my budget.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Since you admit to being a "clueless beginner"..:)

and you are looking at 50mW 532nm (Green) Lasers...
I would suggest that you also buy appropriate Laser
Safety Goggles/Glasses...

I've dealt with O-Like in the past with no problems at
all. I have never purchased from ledshoppe so I can't
comment on them...

Ok, thanks for the advice.

I saw on the O-like one it doesn't list what type of batteries it takes, the ledshoppe says it takes 2 AAA. It it be naive to to assume that the one listed at O-like also takes 2 AAA ?

the olike one looks like it takes 2 AA. input voltage is 3v. so it is either AAA or AA.

since it is 28 bucks take lasersbee advice and use the rest of the money to get safety glasses.

youll thank us in 10 years when you are married to a pretty girl and not some hideous monster lol

O like is a fine company to begin with. If you dont want one like that, you could resort to building your own, but once again... I think it could confuse you unless someone here could DIRECTLY help you.

Another thing to note, whatever you purchase for 50$, do NOT buy from Wicked Lasers. They may be popular as h*, but they are a very bad company... no one really knows where their actual reputation is.

Get one of swimminsurfer's overspec pens... cheaper, and will get to you a lot faster.

Pretty sure it's in the :toilet:

Hi,

I just bought a great Visual Class Laser Pointer that also came with a strobe, the pointer can reach up to 500 yards. It works great I'm well pleased with it . Got it on ebay $59. They have plenty of laser pointers

I got my laser now. I have a quick question, though.

I bought some energizer advanced lithium, which I think is a good battery for lasers?

Anyway, to my issue. After about 1 hour of use (time the laser was actually on) it started getting dim at times. If I toggled / messed with the push button it would go back bright. After about 2-3 hours of use, it was dim all the time. Although, in the first 1/2 second I turn it on, it is really bright, then goes to dim, but toggling the push button doesn't work now.

Do you think this is a "push button" issue or a battery issue?

I remembering these happening to those little 5mw red pointers too. idk?

Honestly 2-3 hours of use out a cheap chinese pen is more or less average imo...

It could be a bad contact, or it could the the ir diode is dying. Stick to short duty cycles... 20-30 seconds max whenever dealing with cheap green pens.
