Hello,

Just expounded on what I have learned here.

Here is a way to make smoke in any room of your house using glycerin. All you need is a double shot measurer, (house wares at department store), glycerin (drug store) and a tea light (any supermarket)... hopefully you have all of these at home. Take a look at the picture:

Just drill enough holes for the candle tea light to get enough oxygen (holes in larger "double" measure), set it on top of a tea light candle and pour the glycerin (few drops) into the smaller measure (top). My tea light is in a glass base here.

This metal set up is two cups welded together so the heat exchange is just so that and glycerin is not overheated, making it give off a nice long steady flow of smoke.

This beats using the stove or holding a spoon over a candle and frees up your hands for lazing.

Thanks for looking,

Patrick

Just a Heads up: Deactivate your Fire-Smoke-Sensors before using the glycerin ;)
Was wondering the first time i used this stuff: what's that peep-peep-peep noise :D

YES! Good point regalis...

...my smoke detector wasn't so much as a "peep peep peep", but more of an ear piercing "BAHWAAAAAAAAA BAHWAAAAAAAAA BAHWAAAAAAAAA" that woke the kids from a nap.

I had used gylicern a few times to make smoke before, but this paticular time I really clouded up the place and the smoke alarm finally let me know I had reached the threshold.

If you have a sensor that is integrated into a security system, you can bypass the sensor with your touchpad and turn it back on when you are done. Battery units are obvious, just take out the battery, but you would not want to modify a hardwired sensor as you may forget to turn it back on or compromise it's functionality.

This little smoke generator should not make too much smoke to trip a sensor, but enough to give you a decent beamshot in a small- med size room in daylight.

Try it out.

Regards LPF peeps!

Patrick

Thank God for NFL Sundays (they are back today), lasers and my hot wife!

Heh I left the door to one of my bedrooms open (which was in the direction the smoke was blowing) and it set off the alarm... Note to self always keep bedroom door shut :p

Icecruncher - I am jealous of that nice neat case full of goodies in your avatar.

I just ordered replacement foam for and old pelican case I have! Thanks for the inspiration.

guyfromhe - my smoke alarm is tied to my security system and my wife is the primary contact... If I forget to turn it off, she gets a call from the security people and finds out that I have been geeking out with the lasers again (if she is not home)!

Ha! Can I get some day time beam shots? Mine sucked!

HA! It did seem like that because I was trying to be quiet with the kids sleeping.

Almost gave me a heart attack!
