im a "he". "she" is just a model.

didnt want to post cntry in this thread just for avoid search engines give c0ps a nice ideas and tricks of people how to avoid laser being picked.

Anyway, my loc. is IT.i told it in pm to anyone who askd.

and i would LOVE to be a BS.. so i still would have my greeny.

I called my cousin, he works for pol1ce, he said that show a cheap one, while they see a bright beam from 1 km/mile, is such a bad idea.. as i thought, if they pocket you, and realize you are trying to hide something and act in a suspicious behaviour, you go to jail.

He see what he can do with my unit in next few days.

INSTEAD, MY COUSIN TOLD ME THIS NICE SUGGESTION:

He told me to get and take with me some paper, from some professional studio, or research lab, that just show you can/could/did handle/d a laser, for professional application,
studying research or something similar, that just give the idea that you are not a stupid moron and just know how to handle this stuff, and he said that 50% they
could let you go with your unit. He said, that sometime, just a simple specification paper, may help.

also a self declaration where you explain you know all the safety misures needed to handle a laser, could be impressive to them.

Anyway, anything above 5mw will be seized, and something of 50/100mw can be considered offense weapon.

He said he will go the station, telling i am not a moron but a professional photographer, so there is chance i can get the olike back in few days :)

will keep you updated guys!
You already posted where you are from in another thread. Without the knowing your user name here they would of had a hard time figuring out who you were until you posted this thread.

Hope you get your laser back.

ixfd64: Nice idea! I once told a similar thing to a teacher in my school when she was trying to confiscate a pointer (4mW IR thermometer measured) from my friend:

"This school does not ban lasers and you do not have any confiscation rights. Furthermore, you are not qualified to handle diode pumped solid state lasers at 532nm, and you don't know about risks associated with IR leakage. Sorry, I can't allow you to confiscate this laser."

^^^ Seeding mistrustfulness? Do you always believe everything someone posts? We have had several new members post a lot of BS, just the way it started out sounded like BS. So I call it the way I see it, that is just the way I am and will not change who I am. The cocktails probably didn't help any either.
I do sincerely hope he gets his laser back.

that sucks so bad my only experience was good though, i had a young undercover cop folow the beam from my 1.8w445 on a very foggy morning from 3 blocks away to my house. he drove past 3 times then stoped across the road and watched me for 5 minutes. pulled into my driveway and identified himself. asked many questions like where i got it, thought they were illegal and what purpose i could even have for something like that and if i ever point it at people or animals. After i demonstated it for him by lighting a cig across the room questions changed to where and how he could buy one,he first asked if he could buy one of mine. he was genuinely serious so i pointed him to LPF. he left saying if they get any reports of lasers, he knows where to go...

^^Why would you do something that stupid, that's all we need is more attention.
When I talked to the neighbor that is a detective I always tell them ebay.

I feel for your being stung like that, unlucky.

As for what I'd do, for what it's worth, (1) never comply with authority without question, (2) put it down to experience and forget about it.

Imo, all these tricks that others have suggested are all interesting and may even work, but definitely shouldn't be taken too seriously. Ped's seems the best option, but still risky as most coppers are pretty cynical about the general public (remember their job is to deal with the worst examples of us on a daily basis) and would just take the opportunity to search you properly and you then end up having to explain why you just pissed them off for trying to fool them, and losing a cheaper pointer on top of the main one.

If a police officer has to break their routine and take an interest in you they usually ignore pretty much anything you say unless they have reason to think that it might turn against them.

If you respectfully stand up to them, the good ones will be right and you'll feel a lot better for making sure by at least trying to resist and take names and numbers for future reference, and the bad ones would likely back-track if they weren't absolutely certain.

Amen to that...alway keep LPF on the down low when dealing with "the man"

Sorry to hear about you getting mugged for your 400mW greenie.
(I HIGHLY doubt that it ever even got turned in as evidence)

I'll be taking the advice of carrying a dummy low power greenie to swap out if I'm ever in such a situation but I'll fight like hell for it still...they can pry it from my cold, dead hands.:shhh:

That's actually easy enough to tell since he got a written citation and fine.. If the laser confiscation was mentioned in the paperwork, then it was legit, if not, the officer got himself a free laser..

If it was the latter, you also have something to go on too. By getting a ticket, you should have the issuing officers name. If there were witnesses to the confiscation that you know, carry them with you and go to the station in person and ask about getting it back. If they don't know what your talking about, Explain the situation to highest authority you can find in the building.

Even if the laser wasn't legal to have, and everything was legitimate, it's already been confiscated and you've been fined. The worse that will happen is they'll tell you to go away, and the best that would happen is you get your laser back, or at least possibly make the officer in question have to answer some uncomfortable questions if he did indeed just pocket the laser.

Excellent advice for sure.

Another piece of advice: if the police confiscate your laser, be sure to remove the safety key before handing over the laser (if it has one). This prevents "accidents" from happening.

The whole story is a shame and make him look like a " idiot ", sorry for this word, dont you think? Would you post something what make you look stupid?
Ok, maybe YOU would.
But most people would´t post such a sad story if it is not true.
Yes, i belive him.

So you think it's ok to call me a liar because I don't believe everything that is posted?
Show me where I am a liar!
There have been so many BS stories here that some times you just call it as you see and I see you as an idiot!
All I asked for is where he was from and a little proof, and since he kept his location a secret at first it sounded a little fishy. There is nothing wrong with wanting to see a little evidence. But I guess that is beyond you to see that.

If you were ever here you would have seen that we have had new members fake that they had been hit in the eye with a 1w 445 and some other bull shit stories. I don't know why you are the one that is taking offense to me calling it like I see it since it was not directed at you.
