Can I use other type of batteries other than the one that the instruction mention?

Ok,when I read the instruction manual of my 50mW green laser it mention something like this "use alkaline batteries".But I've already used 1.2v rechargeable Ni-Mh battery on it and it work just fine.

will this make any difference in decreasing the lifespan of my laser?:yabbem:

As long as you do not exceed the voltage limits of the laser, you are fine.
