I know i mentioned it, i just though i would post a link in case you couldn't find it. also about water cooling. in my opinion passive cooling should be fine. with water cooling you will run in to portability problems. have you thought about a TEC?

I will leave the water cooling hole there anyway. I may come handy later. :)

Some pics of the setup. I've sent email to all the technical schools in the district. If the price is fair, I think I'll have machined ten of each piece. Laser stuff is way too expensive. :p

ThermoElectric Cooling
It draws heat from one surface and transfers it to another.

Z-Bolt has some labby heatsinks for $15 each. I have used them with reds and blu-rays and it doesn't get hot. http://www.z-bolt.com/order/Product240

Also might as well save some money and buy a 10pk of aixiz modules for $25. Then you can harvest your own diodes from sleds for cheap. It seems like your in this hobby for good so im sure you will use them all eventually, you will start to save money in the long run. http://www.aixiz.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=1_31&products_id=72

Ohh yeah and on the mirror mounts. I dont see the X-Y adjusters. You will want those for fine adjustments. Something like this

Thank you. I will buy the z-bolt heatsinks if I can't get a fair price from a local school. Z-bolt is the cheapest alternative, but they have pretty expensive shipping.

If you're still interested in watercooling, you can get nonconductive fluids, designed for computer waterblocks using aluminium and copper, called feser one. Essentially it's ethylene glycol and additives, and it also glows nicely under UV light. I wouldn't risk spilling some on a laser diode, but it's designed for nonconductivity, so leaks on the wires wouldn't kill it.

If you really wanted good cooling and a cheap alterative go with mineral oil! I'm not joking.. it is a great way to disipate heat.. only thing is, it is much thicker then water.. so a more beastier pump is required.. you could intergrate this in with some sort of water cooling kit for a pc.. it is also 100% non-conductive and 100% non-corrosive!

I've recieved the diachroic mirrors, and I've ordered red and blue/violet modules.

Do you think the heatsink on the red module is any good? It's very small.

The red and bluray is up and running. I'll adjust the power later on.

It's feasting on a 9V battery. The Blu-Ray module is running on ≈100mA, and the red is ≈400mA.

I suggest you to mount the screws and springs on the corners, instead that in triangle shape.

This way, is a little bit less stable (if you don't use good springs, at least), but is more easy to do final alignments.

Edit: a min, i try to make a draw, maybe it's more clear that what i mean :p

You mean moving the bottom screws (in the 2nd drawing) to either left of right? :)
