I'm looking to buy a laser, that can burn at least a little. Lighting matches is enough for now. I have found some at a $10 - $20 area. But would like some opinions on them.

Laser 303 people lasers- some cheapo generic (from what I understand it has no manufacturer label). The reviews I found say its good for price.

Assassin v2- again the reviews seem to be pro. A bit higher price than the 303 types

Shadowhawk- can't find reviews on youtube. But there is two on amazon. One is 5 star the other is 1.

So are any of them any good for the price?

Do you have links to these products?

Looks like the "Assassin 2" is the same laser as the 303 from what I've found - just sold at a higher price. Can't find much for the "Shadowhawk".

Definitely avoid "Assassin Lasers" if that's who you were looking at.

Check this guide: http://laserpointerforums.com/f41/guide-company-should-i-buy-97936.html

My 301/303 can light matches - but they are luck of the draw. They're anywhere from 50-100mW usually. Can't really go wrong for $7 or so mind you. Mine came from Gearbest.

The green ones are all the same. Just re-branded cheap Chinese lasers - hit and miss as to performance.

The purple one (405nm) is a generic Chinese laser too. Probably the same internals as the 405nm 301/303s - which I don't recommend because I've had two die in the space of 5 minutes. I don't think my 405nm could light matches but then again, it never lived long enough for me to try. They are very dim - even at 100s of mWs - our eyes are not at all sensitive to 405nm(purple).

The greens seems pretty decent though - I'd probably go for the cheapest one, or the second cheapest. Good deal if it's coming with batteries. As I said though, luck of the draw.

I got mine from Gearbest and would recommend them if that's what you're going for. Batteries/charger also came from there - ended up being like $15 - I'm happy with the purchase. Also had no problems dealing with their customer service the couple of times that I had to - other than some things being lost in translation... :)

^Yeah

Those eBay pens/301's are pretty much hit or miss. You may get a very quality stable unit or you may get some piece of junk that breaks on you when you turn it on once. For $2-10 though, can't really complain I suppose

This has all been very helpful, so thank you. I have narrowed it down to the shadowhawk and the 303. I was thinking shadowhawk for sure because it comes with case, battery and charger, for $13 AND free shipping. But it now has two single star reviews. Either way I have determined it will be green, for the burn, and better visibility.

That list really surprised me with the wicked lasers, after all that I have seen on them and how good they are. It has also added multiple places for me to check out, which is both awesome, and complicates things.
