You may be able to replace the diode in you laser, however, as you discovered, the C-mount diode is different than those you can purchase.
To replace the diode you would have to cut the new diode to fit properly into the module.
This would be difficult and risky as you may ruin the new diode in the process.
You would also need to know if the original pump diode has a fast axis collimator or not.
If you get the wrong diode, it may not work properly.
Making sure the polarization is correct for the diode is also another challenge. To get close to the original power output you would need to spend a lot of time making sure everything is aligned correctly.
Your best bet would be to buy a new one. They are relatively inexpensive, and you may as well upgrade to a higher power for $50 more.
Novalasers.com sells their 75mW laser for $149 and their 100mW laser for $209. With the forum discount it would be $200 for the X100 without the accessories and lightyears.

But if you're up to the task, go for it.

Get the 1W c-mount and drive it at a current that will produce 75mW. The diode will live forever that way.
