I recently purchased a LOC diode, already presed into an axzis module. i then built a ddl laser driver, and connected up the diode and turned it on, after a little turning of the pot, all i got was a faint red glow. does this mean my diode is blown? or is there most likely a circuitry error limiting the current?

It sounds like a dead diode, but you never know. You must start with the batteries, if they are good, you then check the current in your circuit using a test load with your DMM.

Then make sure you discharge the cap before connection your LD. If you know your batteries are good, and your getting the desired current with a test load, then you will know if your diode is dead or not.

Diodes are very sensitive, and you can kill one with just the spark from the tip of your finger...

Forawd voltage?. Current draw?. I'm sure you have almost answered your own question... anyway once you get that LOC bad boy running your going to be happy...

That is currently my personal favorite diode. Cheap, strong, available ... [smiley=thumbup.gif]
