BlitzBuck V4 - What Do You Want To See?

Hey everyone.

The BlitzBuck V3 hasn't been out for a month yet and still over 30 have sold (rather impressive, according to Clif).

That said, some of you guys must have bought them for your own purposes, resale, testing, or what-have-you.

Anyway, I have fiddling with the design for a while now and have some possibilities in the works for the BlitzBuck V4.

Also, note that the V3s (as well as the V4s) will also be available in rectangular form-factor like the v1s and V2s (same size - the size of the Flex).

Anyway, my plans for it right now are to extend it's ability to buck all the way down to about .8V, meaning it could STABLY run the Mitsubishis and even IR lasers - at the moment, it starts to act erratically around 2.4V or so. 2.5V is the minimum operating condition.

Also, I plan on making the pot a bit sturdier on the next version. Again, the V3 version's pot works fine, but it is VERY fragile and I want a more robust pot so it can be adjusted more often.

With those two additions, I expect the price to raise to about $24 or so from Clif.

Would you guys want that?

Any other changes you would like to see? I'm all ears.

Definatly on the right track with your statments on the rectangular versions. Good job on this and thank you for this product. I for one will also desire a boost model if thats on the radar. I wish you could also pdf a spec sheet on these I like to have paper sitting in front of my when I'm working on a new driver I can't give a reason other than I get alot of interuptions and such as I'm building.:thanks:

A PDF can be made!

There are two BlitzBoosts in the works to see which works better. The first can handle up to 2.2A, the other can handle probably upwards of 3.5A! D:

Sounds promising, estimated time ahead?

They are still in the design stages. I figure I will perfect the design because I won't be able to do any prototyping until early August (at FermiLab until then).

However, I expect them to be released around the end of August or early September.

Are the blitzboosts going to be round with a contact board? Itd be nice to see a boost that has a contact board on it.

Yes. Assuming they are as successful as my BlitzBuck is, they will be available in both a FlexDrive sized rectangular form factor and a 16.6mm diameter round board with contact board.

Would be really really cool if the driver had modes!

High, low, and maybe medium and strobe would certainly be awesome.

Not sure how complicated the circuit needs to be, but just a suggestion.

Cheers!

Heh. I'd love to be able to do that... but programming uC isn't my forte. Haven't ever tried learning though, so I suppose I could try... may be possible with a future version, but definitely not V4 =p

Traditional shape option would be great. And I'd like to thank you in advance for the great diver and great manuals that come with it!

Excellent news Wolfman!

I love the V3, so the V4 will certainly give me a chubby.
