Why hasn't anyone made a host/kit for the big o-like modules when 120mw-150mw of green isn't enough?

They are quite new... maybe ask "Jayrob" or "Likeitbright" to make one...

I thought they had been there for ages. Infact, that member who makes all the high powered IR handhelds made a handheld from one of these I think.

You could talk to John Lawson - I believe he found hosts for these (althought they were around $75 IIRC)

I wonder if it is worthwhile really... as they also sell them in a host already (at least, i assume they contain the same modules) for just shy of $100 more. Adjustable focus would be nice though.

But making your own host is always cool and will probably cost you a lot less than $100(not that it would matter that much after spending 500 on the module). But if I had the money to buy one of those I'd make my own host too, it's something to get creative on :D and gives you a feeling of self acomplishment and a unique host.

If you own all the tools its cheaper. Having someone turn it for you would likele be more expensive. But even if you have to buy a couple of drillbits plus the material to make it out of, it might be a close call... and given the price of these modules i think its unlikely people would make more then one for personal use.

Then again, its also a hobby, so i look forward to what people come up with!

Well I got a lathe and a grinder in the basement, and lots of drill bits and drilling machines.I have about 50-60cm of aluminum rod that I got for free.So for me it would just cost the time and effort.I'd definitely be one of those who would build a host rather than paying and extra $100.That is , if I had the money to buy diodes and modules to build them for. :(
