Ok dirty birds not that kind of doggie style.

So I am a self proclaimed noobie, but I def respect the power of a highly focused / collimatted beam of light and *dont* flash it willy-nilly at buildings, aircraft or purdy shiny surfaces........................ BUT tonight on my walk home from work it saved a lil ole' beagle.

Walking home I was less then a block from my house (in NYC aka highly populous city in USA) I see a woman walking a beagle and as I approach she starts screaming.. I figure WTF ... I weigh 175 and at 6ft dont seem that imposing a figure. Then see another dog with a leash ... absent the owner jump on her dog. Knowing from personal experience (german shepard chewing half my a$$ off as a kid) I run up yelling but dont try and separate the fight. The other dog ended up a rot-pit bull mix that was in a bad mood. I had a green 5mw and a ~200mw greenie in my pocket. Just got the 200mw greenie today and it has a dimpled front half which made it easy to find and grab out of my jacket. I shot it at the sidewalk in front of the rot-bull and scared it silly ........ as it backed away i just made circles round the beagle. I thought damn .......... that was a great idea! Until it started hauling some serious angry canine ass at me. So i did the same move shining it back and forth in a line before the dog and me. It stopped confused and I guess baffled at what the hell the sun was doing iN a tiny dot on the sidewalk at night. The owner finally ran up and leashed the angry doggie. The beagle owner was overly grateful as her dog only had a smile bit on its shoulder that wasnt barely bleeding and asked what that light was? I told her it was a green laser pointer that shouldnt be used like that unless an ass loving mean dog was hauling at her.

Moral of the story: YOU SHOULDNT USE A 200mw greenie in public .........period...... but if you do ; have a damn good reason for it. The reflection let alone direct hit could have done damage to dog and human, but given a cute butterball beagle and my own a$$ in jeopardy, no brainer. Still would have been a hell of an explanation/fine/trip to the local precinct if the police got involved.

****No animals nor humans were harmed... at least I dont think so****

I have chased bears from the resort trash bins at June Lake before w/ 15 mW greenie, they ran like they were under fire! Of course I made sure no person or animal eyes were even close to being harmed. -Glenn

LOL !!! OK a bear and a pissed off dog NOR 15mw vs ~200mw are hardly the same thing !! I would not screw with a bear unless it had an acute taste for my a$$ and was barreling my way LOL

Everybody knows you can smush a bear by throwing a giant boulder on it.

The owner of the rot-bull was a teeny asian girl that spoke broken english and couldnt articulate much aside from "so sorry". In all honesty she was mortified and didnt know how to wrangle the dog given she was all of 100 pounds herself and it wasnt a tea-cup poodle. Ofcourse she shouldnt own or walk a dog that large and agressive though if she cant control it ; but accidents happen. Luckily nothing really happened aside from the equivalent of a shoulder bite/nip.

Out here I live in the country (Back yard is 40 acres) and I have used my 50mw greenie to chase off coyotes more than once.

BTW since the coyotes have killed 3 of my favorite pet cats, I don't care if I blind the b'stards:gun:
