Tonight I noticed that the beam is brighter and slightly larger after reflected off my bathroom mirror. Ill take a pic with my crappy camera and try to get the effect captured if no one else can replicate but I was wondering why is this?

EDIT: I think I just realized why, as I was looking in the reflection of the mirror I noticed the unreflected beam looked as bright through the mirror as the reflected beam look straight to my eye and vice versa so my guess is the beam is created by objects refracting, not diffusing, the beam

The beam that you're seeing is just light reflected off particles in the air, or from rayleigh scattering. It looks brighter coming off the mirror as the beam of light is traveling towards you. The scattered light is stronger the closer you get to the direction of the light's travel.

The same effect would be if you projected a laser beam past your head, with you looking towards the laser itself, it would seem brighter than if you were looking along the beam with the laser behind you. Be very careful if you do this.
