If a laser can take 18350 that's what I use as I cant stand rattle. Of course there's a ton of things you can do to stop rattling when using 16340 for a unit that will also fit 18350 so it's not a big deal. The bigger issue is that sometimes a unit that can fit 18350 need flat tops as they will be too long as button tops. You might not be able to fully screw it together, damage the switch, cause the batteries ends to push in or mess up the business ends switch, driver etc. Some flat tops will make good contact with each other and some won't depending on whether the + end is above or below the wrap so a small neo magnet might be needed for contact.
Anyways, you should be able to tell if you are putting too much pressure on all of that. Reality is there is no reason why the spring end should have to have the battery push really hard on the spring. I highly doubt you will have any issue. Charge them up fully, put them in the correct way and you should be good to go:)
