Looks exactly how Jeff presented it....

I disagree. Trevor was closer to the point.

Whilst I like FP and dont want to cause any friction, I think people and esp. SerpantSlayer should reread the PM exchange properly and then make their comments.

Seems to me like some things were misconstrued and it went out of control from there.

Just seems like both sides maybe misinterpreted/overreacted to each other. After that, it all went downhill.

...And thanks Trevor, for fixing the transcript

Looks like this got a blown out of proportion.

I would like to note that a "proof of age" does not necessarily mean that a scan of someone's ID is required. There are many ways to prove one is not a minor such as a simple picture or even a phone call. We do not request things like this to be condescending or to treat you like a noob. We do this for the protection of minors and it honestly has absolutely nothing to do with you as a person. I honestly don't care if offending someone a little means protecting minors(or anyone who is less versed on the safety of lasers for that matter) from something that can literally blind them for the rest of their life.

Maybe everyone should step back for a second here and just think about what the point of this whole thing was. I see FP's intention for the thread as a reaction to what he thought was a highly fishy reaction to a very simple and routine request. He was posting here because he thought, based on shortround92's reaction, that he was either a minor or someone who was not mature enough to handle a laser. In the transcript, both sides did not deal with the situation flawlessly, granted. It still seems to boil down to the fact that when asked to simply prove he was not a minor he reacted immaturely thus proving FP's point for asking.

I'm sorry if some disagree but it still looks pretty clear to me. Neither side reacted perfectly but the outcome was essentially the same.

I love lasers and I enjoy equally as much when I hear about how much the lasers that I build are enjoyed by others but if ONE minor got injured NONE of it would be worth it.

I suggest we move on and be done with this and I at least hope that shortround92 takes a look at what I said and even if he does not agree with it fully just try to see where we are coming from. Its not personal its for the kids bro.

@ shortround92

You were being a bit oversensitive there, you took FP's age and all thumbs comments condescendingly instead of taking one more message to find out if you were mistaken and he was just making lighthearted comments.

IMO, your posts, minus the oversensitive parts, are well written. That shows there is a decent mind behind the keyboard, I would sell to you any day, but at the same point I've literally had an immature young person lie to me about their age trying to get me to help/supply them with a laser. FP's precautions are justified, you have 3 posts and no one has really gotten to know you yet.

ApexProxy,

"he reacted immaturely thus proving FP's point for asking." Well, clearly you are biased, and nothing I say will change that. If you would step back and read my first decline again, you will see, dispite the bias, that my reply to FP was civil. There may be a hint of discomfort, but I told him that I'm an adult, I'm not all thumbs, no the laser is not worth it for me to show proof of age, yes I called THE LASER stupid (sorry!), and that I do not wish to go on with the transaction. I even thanked him. Yet he's doesn't let it be, and has to run crying to you guys, like a jilted lover. What?! A noob dared say that to the esteemed Flaminpyro? The Flaminpyro?! Of course you all pounced on me without knowing half the story. But I'm glad FP linked me to the thread, and I was able to explain myself. The fair members can have a read and form a more impartial opinion, but there will be some that simply can't do that. What is a noob compared to a well posted, long-time member of the seller fraternity? Clearly one has to look after one's self-interest.

TheDukeAnumber1,

Yes I might have came across as overly sensitive, but only on the 2nd decline. Because when push comes to shove, what is one to do? FP should have gotten the hint that I don't want to go on with the purchase. Believe me, couple years ago I got carded trying to get into a casino (must have been a bet to his coworker or something), so it's no big deal to me. I got carded at Walmart when buying ammo. But something about the way FP said it just totally killed the mood lol. So I politely declined. I think I have 3-4 posts under my belt now? It's not exactly what had hoped my first post in any forum would be - having to defend myself. Hopefully by now you all know that I just want a stinkin laser for a harmless purpose and I didn't want to cause any trouble or ruffle anyone's feather. If people want to sell, great. If they have an opinion, great too, they're entitled. Because at the end of the day, it will be just that - their opinions. I'll just take my money and disappear from the forum.
