Also, when you have no rep and you neg rep someone it doesn't take any points away... It only makes them like you even less.

If anything I should have neg repped you for starting these empty and asked before kind of threads, and now I really should considering you neg reped me for giving you a piece of critical advice every new member needs to know (read more, post less) even if it wasn't said in the kindest way possible.

They will take any lasers they want I once had 300 5mW lasers taken and not sent to me for 2 years.

Now seeing this makes me regret giving you rep foshizzle. Neg reps are not dished out very often. Knowing this makes me and others less likely to +rep in the future...reputation is a double edged blade. Try to play nice...especially around the bigger kids

I usually give +rep for a good sales transaction, or for someone showing kindness and being helpful to a user, asking what others may think is a dumb question. I will even give rep when a member makes something really special.

I've only been tempted to give a -rep once, but in the end I didn't, even though the user deserved it. :D

Almost all of the rep I've been given, I was not expecting. Most if it was given for a thread where I showed off an ugly CR123a battery spacer I made out of a threaded rod and some heat shrink tubing.

To be honest, I would take it back if i could. Since i made a few mistakes when i first started, everyone was criticizing me, and i don't really think I -rep'd you for the post less read more, post. I may be wrong. Anyway's, i apologize. If you want, you can negative rep me, to get me back for it.

I just made an order a few days ago including.. three 5mW laser's and a 100mW laser module. After hearing from a few people that my order may not go through, I felt it was necessary to contact the support. They said that chances are that they will not even ship it out and will have to cancel my order. They also said that U.S customs will most likely confiscate the 5mW's just because its almost over the 5mW FDA limit. They did not say this because of the 100mW module, so for any of you that were going to say, they would confiscate it just because there's the possibility of me putting the module in one of the laser skeletons. I guess they are really cracking down now. So for all of you that live in Europe. YOUR VERY LUCKY. :lasergun:
Old News......

DX had stopped shipping High Powered Lasers to the USA
since last year...
That's when they first put up a warning that they would
not ship those >5mW Laser to the USA..

And even in Canada it seems one of our Mods had his Arctic
confiscated by Customs...

Also know that you need a certain amount of posts before your rep will show up. (I think 50) and if you want to look into your reputation click on your own name and then click on the last tab that says "reputation". I threw some your way since you asked *how to get* rep and not *for* rep.

Hah cool I thought nobody loved me but I actually have reps and I totally didn't know about it! Thanks for the tip even though this is TOTALLY off topic :p

Yeah. Really old news. However you can still get parts and modules from DX. I had some 100mw green modules from them show up today actually.

What kind of power are you getting from those modules? I realize the general consensus is that they aren't up to spec, but I don't think I've ever seen definitive info on them.

I havn't received them just yet, but basing off of the research i have been doing, I will hope to get 75-80mw MAX. And probably 60-70mw average. But for 17 buck's, I still think that's a pretty OK deal.

Er, the 100mW's are $32.50 or something like that. Your thinking about the 50mW ones as being $17.

And give me a minute and i'll test them now that i'm the only one in the office so there's nobody here to yell at me for 'playing with my laser stuff' :D

Ok.

#1 Peak 78mW total. 5mw IR, 73mW 532nm. Seems relatively stable but definitely needs good heatsinking
#2 Peak 64mW total. <5mW IR (wouldnt read on laserbee), ~60mW 532nm. More stable than #1. Best output when it heats up.
#3 Peak 138mW total. 60mW IR (yikes), 78mW 532nm. Somewhere between #1 and #2 as far as stability and power falloff over time.

These were tested as they came out of the bag, driven at 3V. #1 and #2, judging by past experience, can likely be tweaked for slightly more output.. #3, going by the extreme IR output.. is probably doing all it can do already without attempting a crystal realignment.. which really isn't worth it.

I also notice these have 5.6mm pump diodes, which is different from earlier examples talked about in other threads that said the 100mW models where where the 9mm pumps started.

I wasnt talking about the laser itself, I was talking about the 100mw 405nm laser MODULE. and yes the 100mw with the laser case it is 32.50. lol
