YEARS in prison for shining a 5mw pointer into the sky? I really hope I just misunderstood that. Pretty retarded if you ask me. People could easily just shine a high power laser into the sky during the day/hit all the planes/buildings/whatever they want and NEVER get caught because you can't easily trace the beam back in daylight....... But if you are just having a little fun pointing a laser into the clear dark sky at night you can go to prison?

The politicians N cops must really have a lot of time on their hands if they can go after pointless stuff like this. How about catching some of them terrorists and drug dealers ::) ;D [smiley=lolk.gif]

Just looked up the laws for here in Texas (http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/radiation/pdffiles/301fn_04.pdf  [part 301]) - Yeesh
Next thing you know they'll probably outlaw magnifying glasses because you can burn things with them.  Or mirrors because you could distract a driver with the reflection.  (Come to think of it, the they probably already have.)

I mean - Damn! I could get a permit for an AK47 easier than I could for a 150mW laser for non-professional use. What's with that??

I guess we need to start the NLA to lobby congress.

That's simply ridiculous, they should get their facts straightened out.

Politicians and government agencies in the USA no longer care about facts. Operation Iraqi Freedom and the banning of toothpaste on airplanes is proof of that. [smiley=cheesy.gif]
