As long as you keep cautious with it, and AVOID MIRRORS, you will be fine. A direct hit may harm you, but most likely won't cause permanent blindness.

No point in safety glasses for that laser. It can't burn stuff, and with glasses you won't be able to see the beam. Just be careful around reflective objects and don't hit anyone in the eye.

anything over 5mW direct hit in eye can be permanent. U wanna risk your eyes? sure go ahead or buy glasses and be safe for life!

The glasses are pointless to have with a 20-30mw laser though. You can't burn with it, and the glasses will prevent you from being able to see the beam or dot(which is really the only point of a 20-30mw green laser).
