Hi folks!

This is my humble contribution for this community.. I'm not good to write stories so here it is:

Arctic's Open Source RGB laser host for Opt Lasers Micro RGB module


NOTE!!

I can not guarantee any other material than PETG and SL 12 Nylon for proper fittings to 3D printed parts.
You can print with ABS and PLA at your own risk!!

Programs:

1. Morph and hold with vibrant colours. Hold adjustable in 16x3 second increments.
2. Morph and hold with over 16 million colours. Hold adjustable in 16 steps.
3. Sweep continually between vibrant colours. Speed adjustable in 16 steps.
4. Rainbow. Can be stopped and started on any colour using option button.
5. Rainbow continuous. Speed adjustable in 64 steps.
6. Colour burst. Steps between random colours at 32 speeds.
7. Colour strobe. 32 speed settings.
8. X-fader. Classic two channel cross fader with 32 speeds.
9. Juddermeister. Shuddering random colours with 16 speeds.
10. Hazard. Two channel hazard warning strobes in 16 styles.
11. Psychodelatron with 16 speeds (violent).
12. Colour touch. Explore infinite colours with a single button.

300€ for it to be printed? That doesn't sound right... especially for only 70m of filament. You could buy a 3D printer for 300€.

Either way, great effort put into the design. I'll have to look into it. :beer:

300€ for 100 Microns PETG print sounds reasonable for me.. That includes postage fees etc. You clold print this host much cheaper w/ ABS or PLA, but I wanted PETG and I'm happy with that :yh:
 
Really nice work! I was not expecting such idea :)
I will also ask my colleague if maybe it is possible to print such host in different price since he have soem 3D printers.

It can be printed much cheaper if you have a printer you can use. Just depends on the filament you want to use. That module at $400 is the real expensive part though.
 
I agree that in laserpointers worls 400USD is not that small amount. Maybe some more people would be interested to create a groupbuy? For like 5 pcs?
I'm happy that many hobbysts are our customers but also we can not lower the price too much because we have our distributors and agreements with them :(

The price is pretty reasonable for a good RGB setup. It's just a bit scary to put something like that in a portable host where it might break.

I'm sure some members might be interested in that GB offer though. :D

Test setup with 3x 26650 Li-Ion & Matek micro PDB. Controller has a BigClive's "Green" chip and it has whole lotta FX's!!

EDIT: Setup looks Waaaayyy much better in real life.. FX chip gives amazingly vibrant colors...

I can imagine how good it looks in real life.
The colours are simply stunning when you view it in low light.

Could Optlasers perhaps do Optional driver board for micro RGB module with pre-installed FX-chip from BigClive, since Clive is selling FX-chips also in batch. That could be very handy for people whos not so good with electronics. And that would save space too. Clive's chip runs smoothly even whitout RC low-pass filter.

You render skills are beautiful !!! Whereas...I am stuck in the Standard 2D AutoCAD world !!!...( For now )

That is a beautiful design !!! AND...Perhaps...it is time for me to grapple with 3D printing...to give flight to whatever I can imagine !!!....And...I can imagine quite a lot !!!

You can be sure...that when I build the dual RGB ( White Lightning) units....your work ...and that of RB Astro ...will have blazed a trail for me to follow....especially in the electronic control area !!!

But...alas...unless I evolve to the magic of 3D printing...your design will be just stunning vs. the WL units. I still prefer metal...vs. plastic as a material.....I really admire the look of Aluminum vs. plastic......and... Aluminum is a stronger, more robust, superior heat dissipation choice. BUI...the design possibilities with 3D printing...are staggering !!!!....Hmmmmm ?????

That could be possible, but I'm rather thinking of making the uRGB driver even smaller... I can put elements on two sides and use DC-DC instead of linear it is possible but needs real market need. For example we did some signal converters last year and to be honest we sold 1 pcs only, it was just bad choice but it looked promising. Anyway I will consider it but rather we will program it with MCU ourselves if we decide do so ;)
 
I just noticed that BigClive'a RGB Controller board mounting holes are not in the middle.. So I had to fix mounting for controller board. I also made few more changes to 3D files and updated DL link..

UPDATED:

- New Mount for RGB Controller
- Insert for 3/4" Tripod mounting
- Top frame mounting
- Battery directions inside the body
