Hello, all.

I'd like to make my apologies for not being active lately. I was able to participate often while I had a wonderful assistant, combined with a slow period at work.

I had it made. I had my bench PSU, heatsinked Ophir, great DMM, diode test/punishment heatsink, tripods, clamps, orders from clients...all the good stuff.
Well, my poor assistant tore his hamstring almost completely from his bone, suffered a septicemia infection, and spent many days in hospital. All this happened the moment shit hit the fan, and every vacuum in north Texas broke.
It took me weeks to find a decent assistant to help me with the deluge of work coming in. I had to steal time away from my SO just to complete laser orders.
Things are finally getting to the point that I can spend time at work, working on lasers, and my boss hits me with this; He wants me to take over management of a new pet cremation business.
So, that is a lot for me to wrap my head around, as I used to be in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. It literally was my job to save animals. Now, my job is going to be to destroy their corpses.

So, anyway, I'm trying to spend more time on the forum, and be a contributing member again. It's just....well, you get it.

On an aside, I seem to be mid-stream through a brain-fart, and cannot think of a single thread that would contribute to the forum, in anyway. It makes me feel, somewhat, like a useless tit.

No worries man. Even us vets have real life get in the way at times. We've been known to disappear at the drop of a hat for months, sometimes years.

I don't know what to say, SBA. Thats... shit on the fan as you said. :(
When I say "I don't know what to say", I think I'll be talking for many people that could be reading this thread. Is hard to give advice...

All I can say is... good luck. Everything will turn out fine, you'll see. Its just hard times. We feel like brothers here (or at least most of we should :p) so I actually got worried when I readed this thread...

If you need everything, just shoot a pm bro. You seem stressed and I think thats why you think you're a "useless tit". Don't say that, bro. We all help...

I wish I could talk more but I can't express myself better.
Be positive... and always, keep on lasing... :)

Have a nice one, best regards.

Thank you, Leo.
There is no need to worry about me. Self-destruction is not my thing. It's just not the easiest of times. I see members, with the same time I have on the forum coming up with such valuable and worthwhile threads. I just wish I had it in me, right now, to contribute in the same way.
I love being a part of this forum. I consider many of the folks here my brethren, and wouldn't trade my time here.

Thanks again.

Life happens to all of us, man. It's a great gesture to provide some insight into what has been going on with you, but I don't feel there are any apologies necessary. You have to take care of business... It's all good.

I'M a good listener- see you in less than week- if not on the return trip - I will have all the time I want then. I know all too well about the deal with dead animals and rescue too. If more people knew about all the great dogs that get 'put down' they might change their selfish 'tude about litters and how BAD an idea allowing them to happen REALLY is.

makes me want to get the owners spayed and neutered.

in the last two months- two litter of stray cat kittens(one under my house) and one of a stray dog --under neighbors house. sad very sad

Don't worry about anything man. Believe it or not, you are not expected to come up with genius threads every week. I disappeared for over a year because life got in the way and I had other stuff going on.

Know that you will always have a place here and you can come and go as you will. Everybody knows you are a good guy

Good luck with the new position, it doesn't sound like something you want, so trust your heart when it comes to what you should do. No matter what you choose it will not be the end of the world, and you sound like a resourceful guy.

GL and keep us posted,
Isaac

You're a great guy Brian, we all know it.. And don't feel bad about it, It's the mature thing to do and people appreciate when you take care of your professional responsibilities, Sure there maybe some delays with hobby stuff and nothing wrong with that! after all it's a hobby, the thing you do in your free time.. So kudos to you for letting us know its very gentleman like!
I myself have so much work stuff to go through the whole week that's why i limit my hobby stuff to a weekend where i have plenty of time, and it is handled perfectly!

Thanks, guys. You are all so very nice and supportive!

I'm looking at you, Isaac, with your genius threads all over the place...and Grainde, coming up with a master list of scammers, to help out the forum. You guys, and the rest, make this such a great place to be.

I'm hoping that since I will be working alone in the new job, that I'll be able to set up my laboratory in the new shop, and continue to build on the clock!

I can't wait to see what kind of CO2 etching laser system the boss is going to buy! Maybe I can slip in an ML Argon Ion...he won't notice...surely.

The good news is, it seems I am getting closer to prototyping my new "Elegance" line of lasers. You guys are going to fall in love, all over again!

See that? You're already sounding more positive today! I wouldn't worry about anyone here feeling snubbed or anything even close to that. If anything, I believe most here figured that you had a bunch of "stuff" going on that couldn't be avoided. It happens to us all from time to time, and some more than others, ya know?

Don't know if you've ever heard this one, but it seems appropriate here:

"Life is all the crap that happens to us while we're busy making other plans."

Ain't THAT^^ the truth?

Just keep that positive vibe goin' and you'll work it all out, you'll see. Remember that it ain't what gets us down that matters....it's what gets us BACK UP!

OH YEAH! :D:crackup: Sage advice, for SURE!
