What happened in Brazil recently? I noticed several things that required a liberal application of Vulcan 20mm incendiary.

resumption of Rio's favelas (poor neighboorhoods, dunno how to call they). I'm glad to not live near: Drug sellers versus local military and riot troopers. A true war (tanks have been used )

in local news they said that the whole world was watching, I think it isnt true :p

Sorry that is real bad news! Well lately a congress woman was shot, and six others killed at a "Congress on your corner" meeting. many others wounded. This has been a media consuming event in the US. Sorry again about the Drug War.

Heirophant, that is your opinion of what happened with the shooting? I am on the same page with you on that! Sarah Palin has a really big mouth and her targeting congressmen and women that needed to be replaced going into midterms didn't do anything for me except show that she needs to find something else to do. She is not a leader in anyway shape or form she is a trouble maker.
I am way off subject on this thread sorry!
[going further off topic] I am NOT a fan of Palin, but I don't see how anyone can blame her for some whackjob deciding to shoot a group of people meeting their congresswoman in the street... was there a rally where she said "go out and kill the Democrats"?

I am a Canadian seafarer and I am off the coast of Sri Lanka at the moment. We just came through pirate waters a few days ago without problem but a ship not far from us had a problem. Merchant ships cannot carry any weapons like machine guns. Its illegal an would potentially get you thrown in jail, ummm like forever, if you got caught in the wrong place with a pop gun, let alone a machine gun. All we are allowed to have is (big) water cannons and some ships are putting up razor wire.

I think a laser is a wonderful idea. Its not just the effect of the blinding light it would have. If I was in a boat chasing a ship and someone pointed a powerful laser at me I would think twice because A-they know I am coming. and B-they have frickin laser beams!! What else do they have?

This is meant for civilian vessels. Those cannot carry heavy weapons. Imho it's not bad idea.
But the effect would be practically canceled by $20 protection glasses.

I know glasses would negate it. But I don't think they are that smart. Still it would better than nothing. That is all we have now. They wont let us have guns. Any guns let alone heavy ones. There are warships but its a big ocean. So basically we are just defenseless. That is why they are after us. They are chicken s*%t.

I am quite responsible and I would never ever purposely hurt anyone or anything.

However, for those guys I would make an exception. If I could blind a few for life at least that would be something. Maybe the biggest infrared I can find and some night vision goggles for targeting. ;) Ya maybe that would work at night when they are all staring at us with pupils dilated.

But yes I would prefer a large deck gun.

I can see the market for high quality collimating optics going up ^_^
A small attachment on the end of your "dazzler" and you can punch holes in the bad guys :na:
The research that went into the "star wars" defense program quit too soon.

I'm a big fan of suffering for people like that.
If you kill them outright, someone takes their place.
If you cause them indescribable pain but let them go back and talk about it.....
History has shown this more effective.
That's like turning rapists into eunuchs, cutting hands off thieves, there are a lot of people willing to risk death, not many willing to risk a month of excruciating suffering ^_^

Now thats just brutal :eg: I say all you need to get rid of those pirates is a turtle, a multimeter, and a block of cheese :D

most of those vessels out there that get robbed by the somalies are out there dumping sewage and nuke waste, because somalia has no government so stop them. i do not feel bad for the people who get caught by the locals doing so.
