Well I thought I'd try another build, after all the other failures were all a couple years ago now. This was the first time I was attempting a 'full' build, without any pre built parts too. Although the end result is the same and the parts of this build will join the PS3 BluRay, and the 200mW IR in the landfill. I realized as soon as I got the parts that this build was far far above my ability, but I tried it anyway. Bad idea. lol Things went wrong almost from the start, I chipped the diode getting it out of the heat-sink and got a bunch metal dust into the end. Then it fell onto the floor as I finally got it out. It was probably already dead by then, but I decided to go on. When mounting it in the Aixiz I mangled all the pins an scraped the front again. I should have just given up then because at least I could have sold everything except the diode, but I pushed ahead and tried to attach the flexdrive. I couldn't get the solder to stick to my iron, so I had to just feed a huge blob on at once and hope it didn't roll off. Unfortunately WAY to much came off the iron and soldered the whole front of the flexdrive and all the LPC diode's pins in one giant blob (pictured below). I might be able to sell this as some kind of weird modern art, but a laser it ain't. LOL
