Hello!

Need a RELIABLE pointer! Something that will work every click, that will last more than 2 years, if painted the paint will not peel off.

Story for those who are bored:

I'm an absolute newb here and I fear that this post will incense some users... my intentions are good and I'm requesting advice because I'm starting to become frustrated.

A year ago I purchased a green <5mW green laser pointer from a store in Toronto called the Efston Science store. It worked fine at first. An executive from the "home country" of the (rather large) company I worked for loved the green pointer and purchased one from that same store. Mine was a chrome finish, his a black finish. The paint on his started flaking after a month. Now his is entirely inoperative and mine works intermittently (the button works, two seconds later it doesn't, need to shake it, decidedly a bad contact).

I did a bit of research (including on here) and acquired the E1 executive laser from Wicked Lasers. Out of the box, they have the same problem the 'no name' ones from Efston did and work intermittently. I also got an E2 for a friend and the paint finish is so bad that I'm returning all of them (although it's been 2 weeks and still haven't gotten an 'RMA' number from them, but I digress).

All of this for this question:
Which brand has solid, well-built, reliable and dependable class 3A presentation-suitable green laser pointers? I don't mind paying a little more for a better product.

Please help!

Wicked lasers is becoming a big no-no around here

You are best off with, well... best there is :D

And that is CNI merchandise. Resellers:

NOVAlasers Home
Laserglow Technologies
Green Laser,Laser Beam Optics,Laser Safety Glasses : Dragon Lasers

Those are all sites selling lasers which will serve you well for long years to come. Proven reliable over and over.

Most are even very much overspec (a member here bought a 275 mW pen and ended up with 400mW peak unit which is , to my knowledge , the most powerful pen type laser in the world), so you can very much expect more than you pay for.

Check out Z-bolt.com

Their prices on 5mW pointers are good and the quality is great.
They ship from the USA.

Or you can try out the Laserglow Lyra or Anser.
Laserglow is known to be one of the top companies. Their 5mW pens are reasonably priced and great quality.
Laserglow is located near you.

You do not want more than ~20mW for a presentation use. IMO, more than 5mW in a presentation setting can be overwhelming.

i agree with Eudaimonium on his choices on Company's..

I can say if you want a good pointer for presentation and dont want to spend much cash I'd recommend THIS ...It's cheap enough and looks good and feel's good in the hand. Also I have 2 of the 50mW greens from them and haven't had a single problem with them.. plus they ship fast and have secure payment.

I just put in an order with Laser Glow (and some quick googling found me a code for free shipping!). I'll keep you all updated!

I'm a bit red in the face 'cause the Japanese exec came back with the Wicked Laser E1 telling me it didn't work properly... don't want that happening again!

I won't tell him I've ordered a replacement until I've received this one and tested it...

Now, if only Wicked Lasers would let me return these! Not only did they not respond to my queries, but now they won't respond to me requests to return the product!

Incidentally, some details on the finish on the Wicked Lasers E2 that's causing me to return it:

Every red circle represents a scrape or chip in the paint.

I might be too picky but... I like things built well and with pride. This did not meet my expectations.

I'm not that picky :D What would you ask for it, in case the Wicked does not take it back ? Anything you'd trade it for ?

Use a sharpie, it will cover those right up. I'm dead serious.

For what it's worth, I have a free wickedlasers CORE that i got 4 years ago. Honest to god it's still works perfectly, and there are absolutely ZERO scratches on it whatsoever, despite having been used alot. I'll show you pics of it if you want.

WL still sells them on their site I believe.

Well, I got the Laser Glow one. And I'm not exaggerating when I say it's ten times the quality of the Wicked Lasers one. I'm happy!

Thank you again for the pointers! Har har.

To the other posters who directed Lomig to Laserglow, many thanks to you as well.
