95mW Viper Safety?

Ok So im planning to buy a 95mW Viper series from Dragon Lasers but I have some issues on safety since this is much more powerful than my old ebay 50mW.


Right now winter temperature and bay fog make it so that I rarely take my laser out because humidity screws up the lens and anything bellow 15 and the lasers work underpowered. So im generally stuck just shinning it from my window tagging distant buildings, hills and just shinning it up at the sky and enjoying the colorful beam of green light (always watching not to hit airplanes). I do my best to cover around the laser with my hand to make sure their are no reflections but accidents do happen and I have been hit in the eye at 2 feet from the reflection of my 50mW, twice. Both times I went to an optometrist not to long after and both times they said my vision was still perfect and one should take note that my windows are somewhat dirty too. But should an accident happen with this 95mW Viper and a reflection were to hit me, would I be as fortunate. I don't wear eye protection when just shinning it out the window because than you cant see the beam or the dot for that matter.

get the glasses from dragon for $25, what is your vision worth to you?

I do have eye protection but I said that I DON'T wear it because then I cant see the dot or the beam when shinning it out at the sky and buildings.

you don't need to wear it if you're shining long distance. you wear it only when you're in a room where there's a bigger chance of the beam hitting your eyes.

Yea my question is that if it did reflect off my dirty window and hit me in the eye would it cause damage because my 50mW would not.

yes probably, the DL95 probably puts out well over 100mW and windows can reflect up to 10% of the light so your getting 10mW in your eye. that can cause damage. I use the goggles when I use mine inside or pointing it through a window. I just open the window or go outside if I want to stargaze

pretty sure, they can reflect anywhere from 2% to 20% depending on a lot of things what kind of glass how clean is it ect...

You could always wear an eye patch.
Then if you zinged, you'll still have one good eye to be king with, in the land of the blind.

On a personal level, I'm glad we don't live on the same street.
I do quite a bit of pistol range shooting. If I'm on the line and I see the guy next to me not taking his personal safety seriously; improper clearing of his weapon, no eye protection, casual or improper use of hearing protection, etc. I'll move to another place in the line. If someone doesn't take his own safety seriously, how can I have any confidence they'll look out for mine?

20mw to 95mw is like jumping from a .22 to a .9 mm
Don't let bad habits follow you into higher calibers.

I went from .22 to a .223, I don't wear eye protection either when shooting. If California wasn't so strict on Title two id still have my uncles car 15. When I bump fire everybody moves away from the firing line.

I own a viper 95, i don't wear goggles but i rarely use it. It's too bright for shining indoors, if you get one i recommend outdoor use only. I know you would like a bright laser but going from 50 too 95 isnt going to be a HUGE difference, the dot is super bright but the beam brightness is very similar.

I plan on selling mine soon because it's too powerful. I have a dx30 and it's perfect for pointing and its bright, but doesn't hurt my head/eyes.

Could you take a picture of your laser running at it's best (the beam) without smoke in the dark. The main thing im going for here is beam brightness and I don't want to be disappointed.

THANKS! Whoa that's an amazing beam. my Ebay 50 sucks compared to that, im starting to doubt if it was really "true" 50mW or not.

i think mine was a bit over spec too
