i just contacted a seller on ebay it was o-like.
they have a driver i am interested in they said it drives a 808nm diode that is infa red am i right?
thus meaning i canot use my 10mw red laser ?
if a driver takes 532nm (green diode) does it mean it will take all mw of 532nm laser diodes?
cheers

Sorry, but, what exactly is the question ? :)

A driver is a driver, don't change or produce wavelenghts ..... it can be good or not good for different laser diodes, this depend from the forward voltage of the diode, so, a driver planned for red and IR diodes can not be good for a BR laser diode, cause they have a more high VF, but not for the wavelenght ....

BTW, the green laser modules are not diodes, are DPSS modules that uses IR diodes, so, any driver that is planned for red and IR can power a green module (but, ofcourse, you need to know the characteristics of the IR diode that is inside the green module, for set correctly the current)

ok thank you so it will run red ir or green.
but the thing i dont understand if you have a green 532nm laser driver i would drive a diode from 1mw up to 500mw? or do u need to change the circuit.
sorry if i am being anoying but i am learning so much and my build is coming up soon, i will inform you when im done

If these are the ones you are talking about.

These drivers will not run 650nm!! I have messed around with dozens of them.
They need a few resistors changed to produce up to 270mW@3.5Vf.
Too much heat after that.
Stock, the best I could get was 120mA.@1.6-2.5Vf/Input 5V
Too low for anything but IR
Stock, they are suitable for only low powered IR LD's
But for $2.50 each, if you can do the mods.on surface mount PCB's (PM me if you need the schematics for the mod.) they make decent drivers.

but the thing i dont understand if you have a green 532nm laser driver i would drive a diode from 1mw up to 500mw? or do u need to change the circuit.
You will need to change the current of the driver according to what the Max. your diode can safely handle.
Most drivers have Pots. (potentiometers) that you turn can the current up or down on.( just like a dimmer switch)
So the answer is, yes, a Max. 500mA driver will drive anything up to 500mA.(mW will be determined by the type of diode)
But you need to know the Max. current your diode can safely handle and you will need a test load,
sometimes referred to as a dummy load to set the current correctly on your driver, before you hook it up to the diode.
