635nm or 447nm?

Hey guys,

Im not planning on getting another labby for awhile, I have some other priorities to put in front first. But on DragonLaser's website, the 635nm & 447nm 100mW 5% stability are both the same price.

I've seen 635nm before but would it be a wise investment when 447nm is the same price? Take into consideration I've never seen 447nm. I remember Pman's advice of getting the main wavelength's done then progressing into filling in the middle.

Thoughts? :)

You already have red so I'd go for blue before you start worrying about different shades! :D That's just me though.

Haha, makes me feel better :D

Will do! 447nm it is then :)

Brings you one step closer to RGB if you want to start getting into projection! Or even just combining them all to see what kind of colours you can get. :D

Indeed, once I get more it should be fun seeing what kind of combinations I could make :)

I ordered a cheap 5mw 638nm from O-Like. That will be the first time I see a 638nm. I have a 450nm Osram at 5mw. I love the color. I'd go with the 447nm.

From what I've seen with 635nm you'll only see a difference if you have it shinning next to 650nm. Alone 635nm still looks like a dark red(at least to my eyes) :)

I want to put it up next to my 685nm from 10fenny and see how it appears. I put it in a m&m's minis tube. I'm really interested in buying a 635nm diode like styropyro cooled with liquid helium. I'd like to see if I can have a custom host machined to cool it with dry ice. I know it won't go as low as his but I'd like to see what it does do.

I agree with everyone above, gopher 447nm. It's a lovely colour, and if there isn't a 473 to compare it to them you see it as a nice pure blue, somewhere around a bit lighter than the blue in Trend's sig.
