Awesome thanks. Do you know if it comes with a lens kit for creating different shapes?
Also do you know if adding diffracting lenses reduces the output of power in anyway? Just wondering if I started with a 5mW laser will it make it even weaker, or is it impossible to tell?

Nope. You will only receive the laser in the box(along with 2 AAA batteries).
No, a grating won't make a laser weaker(output coming out of aperture). It will only diminish the mW's each beam has.
So 'technically' then if 5mW is safe standard, and a grating diminishes the mW's, I could start with a more powerful laser if Im using a grating to create a shape?
I guess it just then becomes a mathematical and technical question with many variables of how much a grating effects the beam, what kind of laser etc..?

Haven´t tested, but I do think that in fact there is a loss in power when shining through a diffraction grating. The amount of the loss depends on the material and coating of the grating.

There are also many lasers on eBay which have lens kits that come with them. However, you cannot guarantee quality and most do not have IR filters.
You could also buy diffraction gratings off of amazon, but you would need to hold them in front of the laser. As to the power loss of going through the grating, it will not be noticeable. The center beam of a grid will be nearly as bright as the normal beam.
To create a thicker line than normal is accomplished with a beam expander. You can also do it with a monocular or one side of a binocular.

Don't know what brand is it since there are a thousands of brands out there but one thing for sure is that either the green laser is low in mW or the red laser is high on mW, the beams are of similar brightness.:thinking:

unless you have some kind of super AR coating you will get power loss no mater what you shine a laser through
